This... If you go wear loose pants. Fresh cut ribeyes cooked over a wood fire just like God intended.

Their scales are broken too.

You just get to pick the size and you get potatoes rolls and a salad bar. Steaks are twice the size you order

He was convicted in 2006.

Zero chance he would've been executed by now.
Not true, but what's your point??

Nope

Having to point out the obvious, people who are executed will never pose a threat. People sentenced to LWOP continue to be a threat. Simple enough?

Also this article says he cut a door in half, got control of the bus, and the guy riding shotgun shot the tires out of the bus.

When Martin Gurule escaped Death Row (northern Walker County) in 98, there were no signs of him for a week. It was assumed he was in Mexico until two off-duty COs were fishing in Harmon Creek and came upon his bloated corpse.

But Martin Gurule didn't have cartel connections. It's shady as hell that this guy was able to get his shackles off.

Why did he not shoot the guy instead of shooting tires on the bus?

Any time there is an escape from a Huntsville-area facility, the news crews hoof it to Riverside and Trinity to get all the river rats on camera with their 87 shotguns and dogs, declaring to "take that damn sum***** out if he crosses that thar crick".

Leon County is slightly more upscale than Trinity, Houston, and northern Walker Counties, but I'm sure there's still plenty of gold to mine.

I'm not sure, but I think it's what they are trained to do. I know a few people in TDCJ and they said that was the correct move.

2006 Capital murder conviction
In 2005, Lopez was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and shooting death of Lupe Ramirez in Weslaco.
Ramirez was taken by two men at gunpoint who later demanded a $40,000 ransom for his release. Lopez was one of the two men involved, authorities said. Investigators said Ramirez was wanted dead due to owing money to the cartel for a drug shipment.
A month after the abduction, Lopez was arrested in Starr County on unrelated drug possession charges and told a Texas Ranger that he had kidnapped and killed Ramirez, according to court records.
Lopez led investigators to the place where he said he killed Ramirez with a pickax and buried his body.
Investigators found Ramirez's body buried about four feet deep. His hands were tied together with rope that also covered his mouth and neck.
Lopez told investigators the kidnapping and killing were ordered by associates who belonged to the La Mana drug cartel from Tamaulipas, Mexico.
He was sentenced to life in prison in 2006.
2004 deputy shooting
Lopez told investigators in 2004 that he and another man he identified as Luis Carlos Mares, were on their way to kill someone in Laredo when a Webb County deputy sheriff attempted to pull them over.
In a written statement, Lopez said Mares opened fire on the deputy while he held the steering wheel during the chase. Eventually, their car ran out of gas and Lopez was able to escape into the brush and run for several hours.
He was able to hide from law enforcement while on foot until the next day when he called a cartel associate to pick him up.
Lopez was able to hide in Laredo, Rio Grande City, and Mexico with the help of the cartel.
Both Lopez and Mares were eventually taken into custody after a confidential informant pointed investigators to the two men.
Prior to his Thursday escape in Leon County, Lopez wasn't eligible for parole until April 2045, according to TDCJ records.

Possibly, but with how quick law enforcement set the perimeter, idk how he could have. They got a glimpse of him a couple hours after the initial escape. I think he is laying low. Hoping they expand the perimeter so he can make a move. I think he is still here.

I live inside the search perimeter. He's still here. A couple of deer cameras have spotted him supposedly. As stated previously, it's a hard area to search. He will show himself eventually or stumble into the wrong local looking for food.

My dad was a high-ranking admin in TDCJ for many years, and participated in countless searches. To refer back to Gurule in 98, they set up the perimeter as soon as the alarm was sounded. They searched every house, RV, meth shed, culvert, etc for miles around.

Riverside obviously isn't as densely forested as Leon County, but there are a gazillion places he could hide. I posted earlier about Gurule being found floating in Harmon Creek - that creek had been searched several times before his body floated into sight.

Like a previous poster said, he's either hiding in the perimeter, or the cartel picked him up.

TDCJ has a pretty great record of capturing escapees, despite the fact they were able to bust out in the first place.

I am pretty curious as to how he was able to free himself of the cuffs and shackles. I have known the CO at the back of the bus (the one who wasn't stabbed) since I was about seven years old. He isn't a spring chicken; about 60-65 years old. I think it's curious that he was the only CO besides the driver, responsible for security. I don't know the demos of the other offenders, and my understanding is this was a transport for medical treatment, so probably not considered as high security as others might be…but it's odd.

All that being said, TDCJ has slid downhill in terms of management and effectiveness in the last few years, so maybe that's just the norm now.

They have him on game camera

That this point they need to be dropping bait cars out at all the houses around there. If he takes the bait they can just kill the car and take him out.

Why don't they have rifles vs shotgun? Shorting the length of the bus with a shotty doesn't seem practical.

You think you can shoulder a rifle and get off an accurate shot inside a bus?

A shotgun is a MUCH better melee weapon, and plenty effective at ranges of under ten yards.
