If this were any other car company, none of this would have been acceptable but somehow Tesla owners have convinced themselves that going through something like this is just a part of the ownership experience.
Absolutely. It took two lemons in a row and an inability to open the frunk when it bricked despite the alleged emergency procedures.PlaneCrashGuy said:techno-ag said:

This par of the article is spot on, and supported by most of the posts by owners in this thread.

The cybertruk is going to go down as a lemon. It will be interesting to see how long they try to make it work before they pull it from the market. Musk has admitted the original Roadster was a bad car and he will eventually have to admit the same with the truk
Not even close to the worst design issue of all time. How about fuel tanks outside the frame of the vehicle like the Pinto, GM's side saddle truck fuel tanks, etc.techno-ag said:Absolutely. Again I say one of the worst design flaws of all time in not including a manual latch.

On a great note for EVs, apparently Elon wants to be my FaceBook friend!!!
Yes, but will you buy a Hydrogen powered vehicle?aggiehawg said:
The reason why is The Hubs has a hard time keeping the lake house golf cart charged, all of his tools charged.
We have multiple 200 amps drops on the ranch. But keeping that many things charged even on a trickle cell does not work forever. They die.
Until battery tech makes a HUGE advancement, EVs are futile.
Now, tell me why I am wrong.

Tesla Model S/X sales are crashing and Tesla is hiding it
Tesla Model S and Model X sales are not doing well, and Tesla is hiding that decline through its opaque delivery reporting.
As we have often reported, Tesla doesn't break down its sales by model. The lack of transparency is frustrating as it makes it harder to track the health of its vehicle programs. Tesla is virtually the only major automaker to do that.
…
A more than 30% decline in deliveries year-over-year is certainly significant.
Tesla is seeing increased competition in the higher-end segments where Model S and Model X compete with now virtually every legacy luxury automaker having premium sedans and SUVs.
The models are still highly competitive with those new entries, but the technology advantage is becoming less evident.
Personally, I'm not a prospective customer but I hope they succeed wildly at this just because I think it would be great to reduce DWI fatalities etc.Quote:
Looking ahead, this means the upcoming robotaxi unveiling event slated for August 8 may have big implications for the stock bypassing even Tesla's upcoming earnings update scheduled for July 23. Specifically, Musk had confirmed in early April shortly after releasing disappointing 1Q delivery numbers that the company will be unveiling its robotaxi at an official event on August 8. And much has been touted over the company's autonomous mobility ambitions since. They include a reduction in FSD purchase and subscription prices to $8,000 (previously $12,000) and $99 per month (previously $199 per month), respectively, and a 30-day free trial for the technology's latest version 12.3 to all existing Model S/3/X/Y owners in the U.S.
Although management has largely stayed mum on the run-down of discussion points during the upcoming unveiling event, investors are expecting updates on when Tesla plans to launch its robotaxi or Cybercab fleet, and how the company plans to monetize the new venture. For now, Musk has confirmed that Tesla intends to be a fleet operator that combines the essence of both Airbnb (ABNB) and Uber (UBER). Built on its own fleet app and software, Cybercab would consist of both Tesla-owned and individual-owned Tesla vehicles equipped with FSD.
This business model also means robotaxi monetization would hinge on FSD uptake, optimizing Tesla's revenue share of the autonomous mobility strategy. And over the longer-term, considering Tesla's ongoing discussions with legacy auto OEMs on licensing its technology, there is also potential for inclusion of non-Tesla vehicles into the Cybercab fleet.
This breaks down the autonomous mobility monetization opportunity for Tesla into three main categories 1) FSD uptake from individual Tesla owners, 2) Cybercab fleet charges on rides facilitated by individual Tesla owners, Tesla-owned vehicles, as well as non-Tesla vehicles, and 3) licensing FSD technology to non-Tesla OEMs.
Your comment on a judge/regulator shutting them down is a genuine concern which should weigh the risk with FSD vs humans but as we already see, they won't look at it that way even if it could be proven to save 100 lives for every one killed by FSD.nortex97 said:
Yeah I agree and that's also why they plan to license it etc. The AI side they plan/hope/want to make a lot of money on, obviously (which dovetails into Musk's attack on Apple/Chat GPT etc). The videos of it driving around in suburban streets are fascinating (and CCP competitors).
Still, the risk is it only takes a handful of accidents to allow a judge etc. to stop-pause the whole thing as an enterprise…
Other carmakers have tried to own/operate for instance rental car companies, with disastrous results. Owning/operating a fleet of robotaxi's is an exceptionally bold plan, but again I hope it works. From an investor standpoint, I am dubious it will happen quickly and on a timeline they project this month/next.

I decided to add a gas guzzling road tractor to my garage to compliment my EV. That way I can destroy the earth through lithium mining and fracking at the same time. Winning.

I've been intrigued by those, haven't even seen one in person. Not a fan of BMW engines holding up long term but they do look pretty cool. Congrats.

I would never own one in Houston as a daily driver given all the prolonged power outages in recent years. If I had money for fancy toys though, I would love to have one, just for the 0-60 in 2 sec alone.GAC06 said:
