Yep. That's the concern. Gay? Who cares.
It's not simply having a different worldview. It's the militancy, which is a willingness, if not eagerness, to attack and destroy ideological opponents.

There's now a Reddit thread about it. People here don't realize how small minded and bigoted they come across to anyone outside the f16 echo chamber.
I don't care what op's son does but some of the replies immediately assuming the roommate is going to go full gay mafia on him are ****ing stupid and embarrassing. You seem to think the guy needs a safe space just like the far left liberals do.
Not everyone at A&M is a good old boy with a corps haircut who goes to church 12 times a week and attends Trump rallies. And apparently a bunch of grown ass men need a reminder that college is a place you meet people who aren't like you.

No atheist (assuming this young man is, most gay men lose any interest in religion for obvious reasons) in the world wants to be evangelized to in their dorm room. If you want to influence people favorably show it, but if your approach looks something like the posts here than I'd say you'll be highly ineffective. Some of the worst **** I've ever read/heard about gay people is posted here routinely by Christians (who are clear that drives their point of view).redcrayon said:TXAGFAN said:I would rather you call me the F word if I was this poor guys gay liberal roommate.Sharpshooter said:FIFY.GAC06 said:

If OP wanted a homogenous sanitized college experience for his son, even A&M may not have been the right choice. Many colleges cater to your viewpoints like Liberty.

He can live wherever he wants and the college is willing to allow him to? I object to the characterization his roommate will be some kind of predator because he is gay. No one is saying that about straight men who assault women at alarming rates.redcrayon said:TXAGFAN said:No atheist (assuming this young man is, most gay men lose any interest in religion for obvious reasons) in the world wants to be evangelized to in their dorm room. First, OP never said it was a male child or A&M.
Second, you'd be unhappy living with someone evangelizing for Christ. OP's child would he unhappy with a militant liberal. Why should either of you live with someone who makes you unhappy?

OP said gay and that says most of it. What sort of gotcha are you going for, get a life.

Why because I'm offended by the characterizations here that gay=pedophile and predator? you're trying to characterize my whole personality based on something I find offensive and is factually INCORRECT, but Texags sees fit to allow this damaging stereotype to persist and effectively sponsor that speech here. I can appreciate someone may not be comfortable with the situation, but call it that. Not "I don't want to live with a gay person" with a bunch of damaging lies and stereotypes which are simply untrue. That's where these threads go off the rails TO me.redcrayon said:TXAGFAN said:He can live wherever he wants and the college is willing to allow him to? My goodness. It's not a gotcha. No one should live with someone who makes them unhappy. I had a loud, obnoxious roommate. It made me unhappy. If I'd known that about her before I moved in, I would have made other arrangements. If my daughter was assigned a male roommate, she would be uncomfortable and would make other arrangements.
You're the type of roommate most people here wouldn't want to live with. You'd 100% cause a roommate serious problems if they offended you.
There what is? Can't throw a line out like that, say you represent some majority, etc. The bigotry here clearly does not represent any meaningful portion of the population to anyone except the Republican Party. You get zero traction elsewhere.ATX_AG_08 said:

And yet I've never tried to cancel anyone. And it's the Rudder Association, likely with members who post here, pressuring the university to cancel draggieland and take control of the batt because their fee fees got hurt by opposing views.
I hate cancel culture, but I am never shy to call out the right when they are just as awful as the left about it. From Trump crying and trying to destroy people who criticize him, to Texas banning books, to Dan Patrick cancelling speakers who talk about topics he doesn't like, I can think of a litany of examples of right wing snowflakiniess.
This thread is full of that with a bunch of disgusting, hateful, anti gay bigotry. Unbelievable staff allows some of this trash to stay up.
