Interesting. In addition to whatever overhead imagery intel the US and our allies are providing to Ukraine, it also has independent access to a civilian ISR constellation, to include ".....control over one SAR satellite and access to dozens."

Of course.

Much like Iranians training drone operators.

Something involving Nork troops will go kablooie, Russia and NK will blame Ukraine, Short fat man uses as pretext to declare war on Ukraine and send troops.

Russia is lobbing hundreds of glide bombs every week into Ukraine. There's no single silver bullet defense, but allowing Kiev to reach further into Russia is part of the solution. Can you imagine your family living under similar circumstances?

I dont see it. Why send many real troops? They may semd enough to learn the new style of fighting, but NK doesn't care about Ukraine. They can get what they want from Russia without weakening themselves.

The glide bomb threat may take a hit soon. They have a substantial but limited range. New western rules of engagement with middle and drone strikes into Russia have pushed back the aircraft basing and this would give more time for detection and response in the future. Once western aircraft with western missiles and more long range SAM show up, the mission profile for these glide bomb attacks will become much more dangerous for the attack aircraft as they could come within interception range. Russia at the very minimum would have to start escorting every bomb flight with a fighter escort.

This is potentially a big deal. Instead of putting their Patriot batteries into storage to sit unused, Israel may be convinced to return them to the US for use in Ukraine. Eight batteries would double Ukraine's Patriot count. You'd think this would be a no-brainer between allies, but Israel does nothing for free and has an odd relationship with Russia.

Hopefully, but under those riskier circumstances, resorting to pop-up release tactics will serve to mitigate the likelihood of being intercepted. On the upside, pop-up release does shorten the weapon's glide range vs release at altitude.

Nearly autonomous drones already being tested in Ukraine.

"You designate the target, [that] is a human decision, but everything from there is fully automated. … The whole terminal guidance is all fully automated and can't be jammed, doesn't rely on GPS, and also works on moving targets."

The Russians continue to lose ground in the northeast. They are struggling to supply men and materiel to the fight. Ukes have performed a river crossing and are regaining some lost territory.

Belarusian troops are positioning somewhat closer to the Ukrainian border. Doubtful they would be dumb enough to officially join the fight but you never know.

Russia directing a campaign of sabotage, cyberattacks and disinformation against Europe.

"The aim is to break the will of the citizens and to break the support for Ukraine. If you were living peacefully in your country and suddenly you have a series of terrorist attacks, and this is all attributed to your country supporting Ukraine, that puts pressure on your support for Ukraine," said Olga Lautman, a security researcher who specializes in the intersection of organized crime and intelligence operations in Russia. Many of the attacks are accompanied by a disinformation campaign designed to deflect the blame from Russia, researchers say."

Interesting tidbit on Ukraine destroying rare Russian nuclear command and control vehicles

https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2024/06/30/another-one-of-russias-nuclear-proof-transports-just-got-blown-up-in-ukraine/

Quote:

In the late 1970s, Soviet authorities asked the Kirovsky Design Bureau in Saint Petersburg to develop a nuclear reconnaissance and command vehicle. And not just any nuclear reconnaissance and command vehicle, but the best protected, most comfortable nuke vehicle imaginable. A sealed, self-contained and thickly armored turretless tank with remote cameras and its own oxygen supply.

The result was the Ladoga. Kirovsky produced just a handful of the tracked vehiclesperhaps four or five. One spent some time in the fallout zone around the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl following the plant's deadly 1986 meltdown. Aside from another that landed in a museum, the Ladogas then ... disappeared.

Until recently. In March, a Ukrainian drone spotted and struck a Ladoga rolling toward Ukrainian lines near the Kreminna Forest in eastern Ukraine. And earlier this week, the Ukrainians hit a second Ladoga, setting it ablaze.

Drones specifically designed to intercept other drones.

"Low-cost FPVs as anti-drone weapons may be a game changer. And they may not stop at drones. FPV operators have attempted to chase Russian helicopters, without success, with videos of at least two failed attempts."
