They wouldn't waste the plane on purpose, but they might burn some pow bodies in the wreckage to claim they were killed. Can't 100% believe either side when there is propaganda value to be had.

That would be very Russia-like.74OA said:

Theory: orcs shot down their own in a friendly fire event. Ukes can see it go down so they claim that they did it for propaganda purposes. orcs decide to respond with the Ukranian POW slant for their own propaganda. Ukes retract their claims to try to manage the negative press, so now it's a muddled up he said she said mess where everybody is blaming the other.
Thoughts?

With US aid still being delayed, what tactical/strategic adaptations should Ukraine make to ensure the battlefield doesn't tilt against them the rest of this year?
I bet if Ukraine shot down more planes now, it would make russia really second guess flying for a long while. But until Ukraine is willing to risk a patriot battery again, I imagine these bombings will continue to increase in frequency. They've increased a lot the past 2-3 days.

or I wonder how many drones and infiltrators they are able to get inside Russia. I bet most of these are sabotage within the country and not coming from UkraineBuild It said:

I'm guessing the latest was over the Black Sea and not over Crimea. Amazing they can get that far into Russia.
Too busy using their s-300 and s-400 for random area attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure to worry about shooting down aerial threats.JFABNRGR said:and for the 1000th time "WHAT AIR DEFENSE DOING"?Build It said:

Europe needs to pick up the pace on shell production while our idiot government can't figure out win-win-win situations, unfortunately.74OA said:

Today's SITREP.
I believe the projects that he halted the permits on are set for 2027 and beyond. Not sure it matters for the immediate war effort.samurai_science said:
Biden halting LNG exports should be good for Russia, and bad for Europe. Brilliant!
Bad timing and it hurts our allies in the war effort.

Russia's new kamikaze drone fell into hands of Ukrainian soldiers
There are some other tidbits afterwards about some of these modifications, but I don't want to post the whole article. Interesting stuff. Maybe some of our more technically knowledgeable posters might have some input.Quote:
Ukrainian soldiers have found an almost fully intact Shahed-136, a kamikaze-type drone that is used by the Russian military for conducting strikes on critical infrastructure and civilian targets.
This well-preserved drone was found in a field following the recent extensive Russian massive, combined air attack on Ukraine. Judging from the available images, it appears that the drone was brought down by an undisclosed electronic warfare system.
Of particular note is the unconventional black exterior of this kamikaze-style drone. This specific variant of the Shahed-136 has only recently been deployed in strikes against Ukraine. Ukrainian anti-aircraft units have repeatedly managed to successfully intercept these drones. Upon closer examination of the recovered drone's remnants, several modifications have been identified, encompassing changes in the drone's structural materials, navigation system, and warhead.

Given that these kits come from Iran, it would seem we can solve two problems by eliminating the production facilities as part of (but not nearly all of) a retributive strike on Iran for their killing of American servicemen yesterday.
