They wouldn't waste the plane on purpose, but they might burn some pow bodies in the wreckage to claim they were killed. Can't 100% believe either side when there is propaganda value to be had.

No idea if this is credible, but very interesting on its face.

Theory: orcs shot down their own in a friendly fire event. Ukes can see it go down so they claim that they did it for propaganda purposes. orcs decide to respond with the Ukranian POW slant for their own propaganda. Ukes retract their claims to try to manage the negative press, so now it's a muddled up he said she said mess where everybody is blaming the other.

Thoughts?

Sounds about right

Also, apparently the Russians tried to reassure their air crews that the sea of azov was safe and that the A-50 that was shot down was just friendly fire. I'd be ****ting bricks if I were them because it seems like no airspace is safe.

With US aid still being delayed, what tactical/strategic adaptations should Ukraine make to ensure the battlefield doesn't tilt against them the rest of this year?

Not much different then they are now. Russia's only play is meat grinder assaults. They have zero logistical advantages and are unable to mount real offensives. The Ukes just need to focus on using what they have in a defensive position, which is far easier than being on the offensive.

One thing we have to remember is that prior to our large amounts of aid, Ukraine was able to resist the initial Russian invasion back when Russia had a much larger and stronger military. Without our help the Ukes won't be able to mount any offensives of their own, but with the aid they get from Europe and what they have they will be fine until we pass an aid package or the house goes Dem, which is likely now that Trump is on the ticket.

Basically, Ukraine's best defense is Russia being completely inept.

Seems the Ukes long range drones are having success deep in Russia. At least 1000k range and targeting oil and gas infrastructure.

This is the way! It's the head of the snake.

I'm guessing the latest was over the Black Sea and not over Crimea. Amazing they can get that far into Russia.

or I wonder how many drones and infiltrators they are able to get inside Russia. I bet most of these are sabotage within the country and not coming from Ukraine

Too busy using their s-300 and s-400 for random area attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure to worry about shooting down aerial threats.

Europe needs to pick up the pace on shell production while our idiot government can't figure out win-win-win situations, unfortunately.

Ukraine needs to be fed ammo.

Biden halting LNG exports should be good for Russia, and bad for Europe. Brilliant!

Bad timing and it hurts our allies in the war effort.

Well, so far it looks like the pow list allegations f some already being exchanged seems to be a hoax, but also Russia has been able to produce zero evidence of more bodies than would be typical of a cargo flight crew.

I believe the projects that he halted the permits on are set for 2027 and beyond. Not sure it matters for the immediate war effort.

Am I missing something?

Russia's new kamikaze drone fell into hands of Ukrainian soldiers

Quote:

Ukrainian soldiers have found an almost fully intact Shahed-136, a kamikaze-type drone that is used by the Russian military for conducting strikes on critical infrastructure and civilian targets.

This well-preserved drone was found in a field following the recent extensive Russian massive, combined air attack on Ukraine. Judging from the available images, it appears that the drone was brought down by an undisclosed electronic warfare system.

Of particular note is the unconventional black exterior of this kamikaze-style drone. This specific variant of the Shahed-136 has only recently been deployed in strikes against Ukraine. Ukrainian anti-aircraft units have repeatedly managed to successfully intercept these drones. Upon closer examination of the recovered drone's remnants, several modifications have been identified, encompassing changes in the drone's structural materials, navigation system, and warhead.
There are some other tidbits afterwards about some of these modifications, but I don't want to post the whole article. Interesting stuff. Maybe some of our more technically knowledgeable posters might have some input.

Given that these kits come from Iran, it would seem we can solve two problems by eliminating the production facilities as part of (but not nearly all of) a retributive strike on Iran for their killing of American servicemen yesterday.

Russia is license-producing them domestically.

They continue to ramp drone production, net, and the new stealthy drone is the real one to keep an eye on (it's only been tested/used once so far I believe in Ukraine)…
