Its good to see these gains but they are also coming at heavy prices. Multiple vids on reddit right now of Ukes getting hammered both INF and Armor by artillery, ATGMs, and I believe KA52s.

Be good to get the clusters on station along with orher items on the supply list.
Long range ATACS and missiles should allow Ukraine to go hunting for KA52s on the ground. Prioritizing that could go a long way to opening up this offensive.

That picture on the right certainly looks like a burned out 92N2E radar based on the door, what looks like the antenna in a folded position on top, and tank on the bottom right... If so that's a HUGE loss

A $500+ million dollar loss if accurate

Looking at pics of the S400 radar, it certainly looks like it is accurate. This is the S400's engagement radar, so this battery no longer has the capability to lock onto targets and guide missiles to them. If they have an undamaged acquisition radar, they can still have a general idea of where targets are, but they can't really shoot at them.

No timeline for Ukraine's accession to NATO, but it did get other accommodations.

"The Communique does guarantee that the alliance will waive the standard Membership Application Plan (MAP) for Ukraine whenever it is decided Kyiv is ready to join, a move that should speed a Ukrainian membership process. But it also notes only that an invitation will be offered when "Allies agree and conditions are met."

"To support Ukraine's deterrence and defense in the short, medium, and long term, we have agreed today to further develop the Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) initiative into a multi-year program for Ukraine," states the communique. "The assistance provided will help rebuild the Ukrainian security and defense sector and transition Ukraine towards full interoperability with NATO."

Admitting Ukraine to NATO while a war is ongoing isn't going to happen. That's like an insurer writing a home insurance policy on the Gulf Coast with a hurricane predicted to make landfall in 24 hours. The only way it is going to happen is as part of some type of negotiated peace where Ukraine cedes territory in exchange for security guarantees.

I'm as pro Ukraine as anyone, but if they really think they will or should be added to NATO during a war, I don't know what to tell them.

Everything that has been done the way it has so far (painfully so) was to invoid other countries being directly involved in the conflict. Adding Ukraine to NATO would immediately require those other countries to be directly involved to defend Ukraine with boots on the ground. That's not going to happen.

They're smarter than that, which means their *****ing about it is pure messaging to try and leverage more support (weapons, training, etc.) as compensation.

I think what they're asking for is being misrepresented. Zelensky wants a defined timeline and path forward for membership, not immediate membership while the conflict is ongoing. Vague notions of, "We support your membership when unnamed conditions are met," does nothing for them.

No, adding Ukraine would NOT require us or anyone to put boots on the ground. For one, NATO won't add a country currently in a conflict, so the question is moot. For two, article 5 allows NATO countries to give the support they deem necessary or sufficient and does not direct require military intervention.

Agreed but I also forgot to mention mines & drones. They are a real **** around as well and need to be dealt with and that is also costly.

That and Moldova essentially doesn't have a military worth mentioning. Something like 8k soldiers and a tiny reserve. They're, IIRC, the poorest country in Europe and it's one of the major reasons Transnistria is still a thing. Should have been over decades ago. Absolutely no reason to bring Moldova in. Ukraine will have a significant and growing defense capacity and will probably have a significant relationship with many, many NATO/EU countries in the form of defensive agreements, a new arms manufacturing industry and other scenarios. There will be no such advantages to Moldova.

Which is little more than a non-committal committal and a waste of time for a country in an existential crisis

I'm not sure if people genuinely believe someone is going to say, "Wow, if some people say I'm a moron for not believing this, it clearly must be true."

It's not much a persuasive argument. It really just sounds like a bunch of miniature dachshunds barking because the first one one barked when it thought it heard something.

It's a waste of time for everyone for them to ask. The demand was asinine.

They've been a NATO preferred partner for awhile, which is a step in the process. It's not like the request to join is new, so stop acting like they're making some kind of outrageous demands. They want and need clarification beyond, "someday."

If anyone bothered to read what Zelensky said, there was discussion between Ukraine and NATO about getting an actual timeline for membership in Vilnius. Then when they got there, all they got was a non-committal committal with vague references to conditions being met. The only thing new is that they won't need a MAP to join, which will hurry the process when it happens, but there's no telling what that will look like or when it will happen.

Baza writes that person who killed Stanislav Rzhitsky, deputy head of mobilization for Krasnodar, could have tracked his movements using a jogging app.

According to the channel, Rzhitsky used Strava, a popular running app, regularly posting reports about his runs. Baza also specifies that he almost always ran along the same route.

"Thus, the killer had no difficulty choosing a convenient spot for the massacre," writes Baza.

Domestic configuration is 350 miles. Export configuration is 155 miles. Why keep tying the Ukes hands behind their backs?

It's frustrating!
