Another Russian cosmonaut program applicant. He built a good resume. Best wishes to him in his future endeavors and I am sure he will be fine, wherever he lands.

Just another classic example of what not to do in a war. Especially one dictated by artillery. Dispersion would not have saved everyone but some would have lived. Which is the whole point. Instead it looks like damn near like a full squad wipe or damn close.

This is what happens when you don't train your people well. They just die stupidly.

False flag perhaps but by whom and why? Is it Russian government to justify formally declaring war? Kadyrov already blamed Ukraine and wants Russia to respond by striking Kyiv.

It seems to have been conducted by this separatist Russian nazi movement (similar to Azov) who may have their own justifications, whether working with Ukraine, Russia or on their own. Either way, Putin is meeting about it.

Not so much a deliberate false flag as Russians fighting against Russian opposition and being opportunistically portrayed as Ukrainian orchestrated, although it may very well be Ukrainian supported.

Of course, using it as justification for "war" is pathetic. Russia has been at war in Ukraine, killing thousands of civilians, for a year and then screams like a little girl when an opportunity arises to point to an incident that can be portrayed as a Ukrainian strike on their territory.

The hypocrisy and double standards between Russian and Ukrainian behavior both within Russia, the media, and even some US lawmakers are laughably absurd.

Yup. I had a post writeup that TA ate and I got butthurt and just ended up responding to the above. But I had mentioned how everything seems to be squadbased or lighter. It is just happening everywhere. Similar to what we saw early occupational phases of Iraq. Just small batches of dudes running around and sometimes colliding and butchering each other.

Artillery is still King of the battlefield and positive why this is why the fighting has devolved to this. Well, along with some lack of training as well. But any group of men gets chopped up pretty badly. This video below just came out a couple of days ago of a squad of Russians in the open. They did not have a good time. Dumbasses still can't figure out dispersion. Especially out in the open.

It amazes me that this is still going on. I remember FTXs out at Easterwood as a pisshead. When our fireteams were in the woods we dispersed so we could only reliably see two people in either direction. When we hit an open field we were no closer than 30yds apart.

If a bunch of kids playing in the woods can learn hand signals and various formations in an afternoon, soldiers whose lives are at risk should be able to learn the same thing.

Confirmed dead unfortunately. His body pic was floating around a couple of days ago in the bottom of the trench. Looked like a few others Ukes were captured in the same action.

Still wild to me to see how sparsely manned some of these defensive works are. On both sides. For being one of the more massive conflicts this world has seen in recent memory there is a lot of men dying seemingly alone or with maybe one other nearby. Which is horrible to me.
Yeah, I would have assumed as much. Just not much of a chance. Guess I was somewhat hoping it was a tale like the guy from a couple of weeks ago that held a trench basically on his own with his teammate overrun with fear.

This video is crazy. Would love to hear how this turned out.
The more I watch this honestly I think it is fake. The reason I say this is two things. First he doesn't even look like he's even trying to duck down in the trench with all that fire coming in and second the explosions that take place right by him don't even move him. I'm calling this a fake.
Basis of that? He is down pretty well in that trench. Angle looks like bullets are hitting all around him at head height but it is actually going over. Enough to be in relative safety. Relative key word there. A well disciplined soldier, or lost in the combat haze, would not bother with ducking in that situation. It would prevent you from responding in kind, which he is doing and doing every well. He engaged back with at least three grenade launches. And definitely saw him flinch down on close blasts but then immediately correct and reengage.

You ever been suppressed by heavy automatic weaponry? Not saying that to try to call you out or anything I promise but truly curious. This is not only real as **** to me, but he performed above and beyond. Especially if just a new soldier himself. He never stopped fighting the entire time. It is actually literally a hallmark of a seasoned soldier to NOT overreact under fire and remain cool, calm, and collected. Just like I see here.
I still completely disagree. Why are there no shots of the APC and the soldier in the same frame? He is not even crouching down from what I can tell. At one point a bullet seems to hit him and it doesn't even move him. Plus it shows the same projectile go down that hole twice in the video? To answer your question no I've never been suppressed by heavy fire but I think I'd be acting with a little more sense of urgency than that soldier. Regardless I'm sure there are some heroic acts of bravery going on there but I'm also sure there is a lot of propaganda as well.

Yeah. Sort of like making a big deal about finally getting a PS5 (major victory) despite paying $2100 for it from some scammer and using a payday loan to boot. Congrats? And good luck holding onto it.

Night Vision, drones and precision munitions. When I was a 2LT in the 70s, unless the range was already dialed in, you had to call in one round and adjust fire, probably putting 3-6 rounds on target. Now it's literally GPS and one round. And supporting artillery was probably a 105 battery with its range limitations.

What you say happened twice is I think the same footage. It's obviously spliced together from something much longer. You by probably don't see the BTR and the trench together because they're far enough apart that they don't end up in the drone's field of view unless it's far away.

The bullet that went into the dugout where the other soldier is. It takes the exact same path? Plus it appears the soldier is hit in the right arm at one point and it doesn't even move his hand or arm? It may very well be real but it also appears to be the same two soldiers from some recent videos we've seen. So I wouldn't put it past Russia to doctor up a video of those two guys getting stuck in a no way out situation. Just my thought.

Seeing in an OSINT group I'm in that the order has been given to evacuate Bakhmut. If so, then God Speed to those heroes as they leave the area. They have seen hell and back.

Watch for more confirmation, but that's what I have at the moment. Unsure if it is a withdrawal or rotation.

Damn.

Not too worried about the overall affect on the war from losing Bakhmut but I really fear for the civilians that will stay behind. What few are left anyways. Russians are obviously notorious for their treatment of captured cities and populaces. Ones they fought tooth and nail for and absorb enormous casualties?

Damn.

German defense minister explains they are basically indefensible right now, at a horrid state of readiness;

Quote:

Germany should invest more in its military

The minister claimed that the German army is understaffed and does not have adequate equipment as it has been neglected from the federal government for decades.

He said Germany will have to increase its investment in its military in order to be up to NATO standards.
Last week, Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, the commander and highest ranking officer of the German army, said the 100 billion euro previously promised by Chancellor Olaf Scholz would not be enough to make the country's armed forces battle ready.

"The army that I have the duty to lead is more or less bare," a report by press agency DPAquoted Mais saying.

Pistorius' remark came within hours after chairman of German Armed Forces Association, Colonel Andre Wustner, in an interview to Bild claimed that only 30 per cent of approximately 300 Leopard 2 tanks in Germany's stock are currently operational.

Despite a worrisome state of defence at home, Germany has been providing extensive assistance to war-torn Ukraine as it fights against Russian invasion for over a year now.

The German government has transferred two state-of-the-art air defence systems to Ukraine that were meant to protect Berlin, said CEO of Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger, to Pioneer podcast on Tuesday.

That explains the reserves of foreign legion troops being sent to Bakhmut. I guess they will hold the flanks and keep the road open for the withdrawal?

This. Russia admits to moving 250,000 Russians to Crimea since 2014, but others put the real number at twice that. A lot of Ukrainians were forced out or fled. Basically, Russia worked to change the demographics by basically colonizing Crimea.
