Another fantastic video from Perun. Long form super deep dive as always but he focuses on one of the most critical aspects of this war, if not THE most critical. Artillery usage and ammo supplies. Touches all aspects of it, including gun usage and barrel life, and how and why the situation is what it is right now. One important point he mentioned and one I was absolutely late on noticing myself, was how cases of Russian advances and staunch defenses overwhelmingly coincide with concentration of artillery fires. Basically, what success Russia has seen in this second half of the year depends almost entirely on their big guns. Ulysses90, I think you would find this video of particular interest and curious as to your thoughts and agree/disagrees if you do end up watching it.
Bout 3/4 of the way through the vid myself but figured I'd post it for anyone else that enjoys this type of conversation. I for years thought about dabbling in some YT content over topics such as this, and this guy Perun is pretty much exactly how I envisioned peak performance in this realm and what I would have liked my own end goal to be like if I had pursued this in the past. Very well researched and documented, well spoken, and always interesting with even a little cheek here and there. This is good stuff here.

Ok, very concise and quick ClifNotes:
Russia is experiencing a shell shortage. This is not in question. Their expenditures have been stupid high because they had such a huge stockpile to begin with. They have burned through a lot of it now and have to scale back now in some regards. It is false to think Russia will ever "run out of shells". They are still producing millions and will continue to do so. It is probably lesser quality and they have to dial back usage to match production…but they will do just that.
Uke situation is more intricate as it relies heavily on politics. Their needs are just as massive but they rely on donations essentially of shells. Everyone else is still at peacetime production and it will take more than US to outfit Ukes for '23. This can be done and most likely will be done by the coalition. Lots and lots of resources available but again, politicking will be needed.
Also discusses at length alternatives. Precision guided as one. Why ship 20 dumb shells when you can ship one precision one. Other calibers are still useful and readily found across the world. Cluster munitions is a sticky topic but could be an option perhaps. We have millions and Russia is absolutely using already.
