Remember the guy with maggots in his arm and we didn't know whether it would have to be amputated?

Thank you for the follow up and the good news for this young man! Here's hoping he uses his 2nd chance to make the world a better place for both Ukranians and Russians alike!

And does he have a story to tell when this war comes to a conclusion...

Retired U.S. Army Staff Sgt. James Vasquez, who went to volunteer in Ukraine, at the grave of a fallen friend/soldier - former British Army reservist Viktor Yatsunyk - with Viktors son.

Is James still in the fight or is he just running supplies for Ripley's Hero's?

Honestly not sure, hadn't read about him in awhile.

Greetings from the Moskva! Just kidding, but it is the only diveable Russian warship in the Western Hemisphere, former Russian Destroyer #356, gifted to Cuba, sold to the Cayman Islands, and sunk in the late 90s as the MV Keith Tibbetts as an artificial reef. Hopefully the Ukrainians will get to dive the Moskva soon.

That actually seems like a legit asylum case. We're the first country they landed on and their government is legitimately coming after them.

Yeah, I can't see how they would be any different than Cubans in how we should treat an asylum claim. Their feet are probably dry by now...

He is. His Brit friend was killed a week or two ago IIRC.

Can a professional help me understand? What's with the cloth wrapping around the motor round? It's blue in this video but I've seen lots of others in other videos.

If it's essential to the success of the weapon system, why doesn't the round coke pre-made with such a wrap?

Rossticus said:

That's the charge used to launch it. Notice there is no casing. You can stack propellant rings for a bigger or smaller charge depending on how far you need to go. When the rings are ignited, the round and the tube make a firing chamber. The round is pushed out by the expanding gasses that the fins just travel through.

James has stated he will be there until victory or death. Tough SOB.

I know his story well but I haven't seen him at the front in several weeks or a month and he has been trying to put a fundraiser together in Houston for next week or the week after.

He always seems to be transporting stuff for Ripleys as of late so I was wondering if that was his full time gig now or if he was still in the foreign legion as a front line soldier.

He's probably more valuable to the cause as a fundraiser and PR specialist than he is as a grunt at the front lines

Here's the problem though. As pointed out in the prior thread I posted, these things only cost a few thousand dollars. It's a simple gas engine built into a flying wing design that can stay aloft for long range along a set GPS path until reaching its target. Very simple and cheap machines. These are one ingredient in the Iranian asymmetrical warfare cake.

The Saudis have been using Patriots and AMRAAM missiles to shoot these down at the cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars to millions for each missile. It is a huge asymmetry.

Russia can just use swarms of these cheap drones to wear down Ukrainian air defense stocks at great cost to Ukraine. Right now there is a gap in the ability of ground forces to use small radar-guided cheaper missiles to defend against these.

The Israeli iron dome system would be useful here. Israel is working on an upgrade using lasers. The American mobile laser and wave systems are not yet ready for deployment.
It's called Iron Beam and uses Laser force to burn up the Iranian UAVs wings and cause them to crash

The laser stuff is really cool. I wonder how well it would work against 100% kinetic objects though? I wonder how you would effectively counter it? Maybe terrain hugging missiles but since lasers are directional detection is going to be a ***** if the laser defense systems get small enough.

Dang thats the most effective hit I have seen to date on a small frag drop on personnel. I counted 13 men including the one already wounded and only one getting away appearing uninjured. All others have serious leg wounds or worse; than an Arty round hits really close. The dove hunters will be appreciating this field next year.

Its also rare to see so much care for their wounded but this week has shown several examples. I wonder if these have been wagner and or higher tier units spetz etc.

NO AMNESTY!

in order for democrats, liberals, progressives et al to continue their illogical belief systems they have to pretend not to know a lot of things; by pretending "not to know" there is no guilt, no actual connection to conscience. Denial of truth allows easier trespass.
