Rusich is a neo-Nazi group within Wagner. They have no moral high ground with which to wage an information war when they obsess over Azov.

Not sure if they could be brought up like that due to being a PMC.

The Interfax news agency quoted the Russian Interior Ministry as saying it had quashed attempts to "organize unauthorized gatherings."

All the demonstrations were stopped and those who committed "violations" were arrested and led away by police pending an investigation and prosecution, Interfax said.

The OVD-Info monitoring group counted at least 1,332 people detained at rallies in 38 cities across the country after Putin's Wednesday morning address to the nation.

Putin ordered the risky mobilization after humiliating setbacks for his troops nearly seven months after they invaded Ukraine. The decision has heightened tensions with Ukraine's Western backers, who derided it as an act of weakness and desperation.

it's very surprising how few actual envelopments have occurred considering the extent of front and the circular nature of the country

(meaning Ukraine is a giant circle where the Russkies should have been able to easily create several pockets of Uke resistance)

This is where the Mongolian border crossing is. My goodness Russians are fleeing to every corner of the earth.

Did Putin seriously kick off one of the largest refugee crisis in recent memory.... in his own damn country?

This more than anything signifys Putins complete collapse. Economically every draft eligible male with brains is fleeing the country. Going to be disastrous for their economy. We're about to see the slow decline of Russia reach hyper drive
NATO should organize boat lifts from Siberia to areas of the West for all military age males

half of Russia would be stampeding east

This is an impressive development. I would now change view to the idea that Putin's fall is now a bit more than probable. When you have that kind of mass disobedience and flight, you are looking at more the last year of the Tsar kind of sullen mix of support and objection.

It is not necessarily a good thing either --- remember what followed Nicholas II --- Kerensky at first, but then.....

My only worry about all the able bodied men fleeing is the only ones you have left are the blood thirsty psychopaths and poor citizens that have no other means or options. An army full of war criminals can lead down a very gruesome path when the conflict finally ends.

And more mobilization headaches in the Siberian federal subjects. A lot of these people are probably heading to Mongolia.

A coup or return to the stone age was really the only two outcomes after the first month. My only worry about a coup is that if it's not semi-organized after the fact, there will be a black market for nukes, with Iran and NK being the lead bidders.

It means it has suspended the diplomatic arrangement which allowed Russians to obtain visas quickly and cheaply. The practical effect is that Norway will slow-roll applications and jack up the fees to the point that Russians can't get in. Poland and the three Baltic states bordering Russia have done even more.

Sending a bunch of poorly trained conscripts and out of shape and out of date reservists to the front line may do more harm than good.

Morale will be even worse, so they will be unreliable when pressed in combat, and they'll be less effective, and represent a large increase in logistics requirements simple due to numbers. Soldiers without food and fuel and ammunition will surrender.

That's why they didn't tell him. Consulting with nonRussian war lords is how Russia came to the conclusion Ukraine would be taken in days and welcomed with flowers.

Now while his guys are making fake Rambo tik toks the only flowers Russians get is on their caskets.

If he's so tough, what's stopping him from going on the offensive?!?

He's basically threatening to take no prisoners because they might be traded back.

This is the guy whose fighters talk a big game and make lots of videos of themselves spamming ammo into the distance but don't necessarily have the best actual combat record.

Yet another Russian openly talking about the war crimes he plans to commit in Ukraine. Amazing how powerless the world is to actually do anything about it.

Russia's Black Sea Fleet Is Quietly Relocating Kilo-Class Submarines away from Ukraine Britain's Ministry of Defence revealed in an intelligence update this week that the Russian military had relocated some of its submarines from the port of Sevastopol in Crimea. The submarines were reportedly moved to Novorissiysk in Kasnodor Krai, a region of southern Russia.

The move is significant, particularly given the impact that the sinking of the Russian flagship Moskva dramatically weakened Russia's naval abilities in the region, and as the Kremlin fights tooth and nail to hold on to territory in the south.

According to the British Ministry of Defence, the decision to move the Kilo-class submarines was likely motivated by the increased local security threat level, which leaves the Russians open to more significant losses at a time when they need to be making gains.

After Ukraine sunk a Russian barge reportedly "loaded with weapons" and other equipment, the move is hardly surprising.

Putin 'passes secret law to send one million Russians to fight in Ukraine'

Quote:

an unnamed Kremlin source saying that the target number of one million men is written in Point 7 of Mr Putin's mobilisation order - a part that was redacted from publication.

Kirill, a 24-year-old barista from Moscow, was among those served with summons at a police station at midnight shortly after he was detained. Kirill was supposed to show up at the recruitment office at 10 a.m. but he did not, hoping that the enlistment office would not track him down as the police only took his old address.

In Buryatia, an impoverished Russian region five time zones away that became a major source for soldiers in the first six months of the invasion, a local journalist voiced outrage about her husband, a 38-year-old father of five with no military background getting called up.

A local university student in Buryatia's capital Ulan-Ude told the media outlet Village that police officers showed up at this university in the morning and were "taking students straight out of classes." "Some got visits at 4, some at 6 a.m. They all went to the recruitment office."

A couple of things to consider:

1. The Buryat troops in one area (I think it might have been Severodonetsk) were actually replaced in battle because of the poor quality and results.

2. This sounds like an awfully easy way for Putin to ethnically cleanse minorities that they don't like.

or western countries outbid the others and take over the Russian nukes

I know for a fact that DOD had plans in the early 1990s to go into the Soviet Union and control some nuke sites
