take out those links (which the Russians will destroy regardless) and it isolates an entire part of the Russian army on the North side of the river from Kherson to Melotopol with no chance to be resupplied.
the perfect pocket. this makes no sense that the Ukrainians have not isolated those BCTs yet.
I agree. On the surface it looks puzzling. But I wildarse guess may be that they are trying to draw in Russian reinforcements from Crimea and down from Zaporizia into the Kherson region. They have been repeatedly telling civilians to evac the area. Then, turn Kherson into a HIMAR/M270 meteor storm - followed by a monster route.LMCane said:it makes no sense that the Ukes have not dropped the three bridges linking the Kherson southern salient with Crimea.AGS-R-TUFF said:Uke Southern axis counterattack about to ramp in a big way.74OA said:

Destroying bridges require multiple precision strikes with large warheads ... or thousands of pounds of high explosives placed by saboteurs. All the Iragi bridges destroyed by the US required multiple airstrikes using 1,000-2,000 lb guided bombs. In some cases, Iraqi insurgents used large truck bombs. Ukraine's current guided capabilities include 95 lb artillery rounds and 200 lb GLMRS warheads.LMCane said:

Well, that's interesting. I wonder why?
Zelensky inherited a strong Russian fifth column inside the Ukrainian government and municipal administrations. It successfully opposed his proposed reforms and worked to advance Russia's interests. That's why Zelensky banned several Russia aligned parties after the invasion and purged individual collaborators/sympathizers as well. 50,000 casualties may not seem all that much in light of the large size of Russia's army, but the losses are concentrated in front-line units and have attrited a sizeable proportion of the army's best soldiers. We are seeing the impact of that steady loss of field experience and combat skills in the declining performance of Putin's army.Private PoopyPants said:#Russia lost 50,000 soldiers dead or wounded in #Ukraine.
