This is beginning to remind me of the Einsatzgruppen massacres in Poland, the Baltics, & Soviet territory. Before it became industrialized & they just shot people en masse & buried them in ditches. Thankfully doesn’t appear to be on the same scale.https://t.co/LCbfEeKpdZ

Again for context: at the Rumbula massacre at Riga in '41, 25,000 dead. At Babi Yar outside Kyiv in '41, over 33,700 dead. Whether it's a lack of time, organization, or intent we've not seen these kinds of numbers yet. I fervently hope it remains so.

Yeah I would think Belarus is a good indicator of what support russia might actually get from any of their alliances.Waffledynamics said:

Russian media is now pushing the conspiracy that Europe is about to divide into three parts
— Samuel Ramani (@SamRamani2) April 15, 2022
This conspiracy appears to be an adaptation of Alexander Dugin's Dublin to Vladivostok illiberal Russian Empire that will challenge U.S. hegemony
— Samuel Ramani (@SamRamani2) April 15, 2022
But this rhetoric is expressed within Putin's inner sanctum, as Dmitri Medvedev discussed a Lisbon to Vladivostok united Eurasia
Still no official report of how many died aboard the Moskva cruiser. No photographs of the ship or the 510 member crew, more than 24 hours after they were supposedly rescued. Just a wreath at a memorial in Sevastopol to the “ship and sailors.” https://t.co/X2OZLHMLHR

And this is why we do whatever it takes to make sure their ambitions end here in Ukraine. If that means we send planes, tanks, whatever, and even if it means risking that Putin pushes the big red button, you do it. Otherwise your kids will get to see this same game play out across every other former soviet bloc country in the coming decades as Russia works to get the band back together. We keep saying we will learn from history and not repeat the mistakes. This is our Chamberlain moment...we can either back down and let the Russians take Ukraine and slaughter their population in return for "peace in our time" and no risk of Putin launching nukes, only to watch him do the same to the rest of eastern europe over the following years. Or we can stop them now and set about grinding their military up and making them a hermit state like North Korea that nobody but the Chinese will do business with.Rossticus said:

Agree. We are not dealing with people who are based in reality. The paranoia and inferiority complex drives these boastful tells of their deep seated fears. Quite the massive neuroses.Quote:

I don't see Orban as being that land hungry though. Does he speak of himself as some sort of emperor?
Are we sure they actually do, this is an honest question. After what we have seen over the last month, i'm just really not sure what kinds of tech they have versus what they say they have. Now if you told me they had some Nikon Cameras attached to helium balloons floating above Ukraine, i'd believe that. BTW, thanks for all you and others have contributed since this thread started, outside of RebelRussiaLover, haven't missed a single post and it has been very much appreciated by myself and others I'm sure.Rossticus said:
They have imaging satellites too and can certainly confirm shipments entering the country. The senate passed lend/lease and the house will too so there won't be any secrets. It all depends on how confrontational Russia chooses to be over it but a full declaration of war on Ukraine changes some of the dynamics and significantly raises stakes.
EU hates Orban anyway. They keep threatening to sanction him. But his remaining neutral is walking a tightrope.Quote:
Orban isn't going to go out and try to conquer those countries himself, no. I just think it's a less than subtle way for Russia to signal that he's on their side and sow a little discord by emphasizing the already prevalent view among most NATO nations that there's a Fox in the henhouse.
Makes me think that the anti-ship missiles slammed right into those exposed missile canisters and detonated most or all of them on one side, wiping out much of the crew in an instant, with most of the others being trapped below deck by the fire and later dying from it.MeatDr said:Still no official report of how many died aboard the Moskva cruiser. 2) 13:30. A train with equipment (11 BMP-2, 21 Ural trucks of various modifications, 6 Grad MLRS, 7 KamAZ trucks, GAZ 66) was seen at Gomel-Passenger station, moving east. The train also had 3 passenger cars and 2 freight cars.

You may be onto something there. It was during a heavy storm so nearly everyone would be below deck, if not stationed on the bridge itself.Quote:

If it were a blast big enough to blow a hole in the side large enough to cause an immediate list, then it would seem likely that everyone below deck would have been killed instantly. At least that's how I prefer to view it anyways...aggiehawg said:You may be onto something there. Tough way to go.
Nice thought but depends on whether the below deck bulkheads were in the closed position. It didn't sink immediately, took some time from all accounts I have seen.Quote:
