And by genocide, I'll also include the people who die by starving through food shortages. All because Putin is a bad actor who is mentally unstable.
He may "get it" but he won't hold it for long, is my best guess.Rossticus said:
Won't matter if he ends up getting what he wants. Putin doesn't care about western world history, just the Russian history he's able to curate. If he succeeds in bringing about the eventual end of a sovereign Ukraine then Russian history will praise him, just like German history would have if Hitler had succeeded.
BREAKING: Ukraine's Ministry of Defence says Russian forces tried to burn bodies of four or five naked women by the side of a road near Kyiv
— The Spectator Index (@spectatorindex) April 2, 2022
Naked women covered with a blanket on the roadside. Russian soldiers raped them and then tried to burn. Russians are expelled from Kyiv region and the whole world is witnessing their extreme inhuman cruelty. I’m not sure there are words to describe what they left after themselves pic.twitter.com/Z1SEvCIwMK

Oleksiy Semikov from Kharkiv rides his bike for 40km everyday to bring food and medicine to his home village.

He was recently caught by Russian soldiers.
They released him after 3 days, but first they had to “have some fun”.
This is how the Russian world looks like. Always has pic.twitter.com/25zdQMYMUD

Wish we could do something like the spoiler tags for graphic stuff to be allowed here. Not complaining as I understand this is a public forum. Just thinking of possible workarounds.

Alright, some of the bodies look very fresh, others look suspicious, the narrative is being created in real-time, not gonna discuss that anymore on twitter, mayb in-depth on telegram later

Unfortunately, staff removed it. It's important to make sure these things are documented and that people understand the brutality of war (especially the Russian kind). I don't know what it was, but I doubt it was anything warm and fuzzy.
Speaking of horrific actions by the Russians, what realistically will happen to any of the Russian brass or even Putin himself after this, assuming they end up with little to no gains? I can't imagine Putin would get any warm welcomes in any international events. I also wonder if any of the backlash will eventually have any effect on their tactics, though I don't think we see any evidence of that as of yet.
It's just bizarre that Russia would do some of the things they're doing in an age of instant documentation and dissemination. Did none of them think that footage would immediately get out? How is a country with supposedly vaunted information warfare capabilities failing so much at the information war?
Seems every war-aged male was executed. Easily 500+ fatalities. Would not be surprised to see a final figure much higher than that, even.

Ok…. Before anyone writes the same old geolocation nonsense, just know this pic is 6 days removed from that location. Now I’ll sit back and wait for people still talk about OPSEC because they look at pictures and don’t read pic.twitter.com/AYSD1isNIT

In just-liberated Bucha northwest of Kyiv, a mass grave of nearly 280 civilians
— Illia Ponomarenko 🇺🇦 (@IAPonomarenko) April 2, 2022
Hardened as we are by Russian atrocities, reports coming in from liberated towns around Kyiv document acts of horrifying, inhuman cruelty and evil, coaches of children used as human shields; corpses left on streets of civilians with hands tied behind back, many shot in head.
— Simon Schama (@simon_schama) April 2, 2022
The photos coming out from the liberated areas of Kyiv are pure hell on earth. Whole Russian squads melted next to cooked off vehicles, civilians tortured and executed everywhere

RETROGRADE - The retrograde is a type of defensive operation that involves organized movement away from the enemy. An enemy force may compel these operations, or a commander may perform them voluntarily.
— John Spencer (@SpencerGuard) April 2, 2022
Russian forces retreated from this area in the last few days. They left absolute horror behind. Soldiers told us they'd found mutilated bodies of men, women and teenagers inside a basement of a holiday home. Others that corpses left in the street had been mined.

Eh. That ended up being a different question. Patton just wanted to crush the Soviet Army before they had nuclear weapons that were deployable.lb3 said:MacArthur too.aggiehawg said:General Patton was right about many things.Jayhawk said:

The #RussianArmy needs to realize this:

If you are a male of fighting age from Russia and go anywhere on earth except maybe China, India or Saudi Arabia, people are going to ask if you were in the army.
Then they will ask if you are in the army during the time of the war.

They always have that view. They are Soviets. St. Petersburg is likely the only Western leaning city now. Outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg, most of Russia is backwards. This can't happen without a lot of Russians supporting it. That country has a very outsized view of its place in history.
Anyone saying that Bucha is the result of brutalisation or rogue behaviour is wrong. This was the plan. It was pre-meditated. It is consistent with Russian methods in Chechnya. And if the Russian military had been more successful there would have been many more towns like it. 2/4
— Jack Watling (@Jack_Watling) April 2, 2022
People calling for a specific response to Bucha are taking an atrocity out of its context. The response should be to ensure that Ukrainians can defeat the invasion through steady and systemic assistance. The volume and speed of kit delivered matters. 4/4
