Unfortunately, at least at the moment, the day that Putin and Zelenkskyy are in the same room is probably the last day Zelenskyy is alive.
My money is on Zelensky in that fight...if he doesn't trip over his giant ballsack on the way to wrapping his hands around Putin's throat.
Samuel Colt put an end to that type of "settling things" way back in 1848. Event today It still a matter of who has the biggest, fastest guns and the brains to use them.

Perhaps this is being used to call Putin's bluff. A week ago Putin said any country that tried to interfere would lead to "consequences you have never seen."

We've openly admitted to supplying weapons and intel which imo is interfering. Putin has done nothing. Perhaps we are seeing how far we can go. Not sure what help we may provide next, but by publishing this, you make everyone know we've interfered and Russia hasn't retaliated. Perhaps gives other countries more reassurance to provide more assistance.

Trying to provoke a reaction to give us an excuse? Push and push until he finally reacts to "teach us a lesson"? Then respond to his attack with full engagement and air support? That all works until he decides to go nuclear.

Guys, Putin is not afraid of COVID. That's a pretense for keeping potential assassins away from his person. Dictators have done this for hundreds of years. Go see the Chinese movie Hero - it was forbidden to come within a certain distance of the emperor.

Putin IS paranoid, but COVID isn't the reason.

I don't believe anybody in Russia wants to go back to this life and putin may very well be fighting a multifront battle that will get very nasty. russia has become a modern country today, but some of these old era roots still thrive which most certainly has led to their struggles in Ukraine.
Exactly. Putin may still be old style Soviet mind set but a lot of his citizens are much more Westernized since the fall of the Soviet Union. They like their consumer goods and creature comforts too. They won't be near as complacent and compliant as he expects.

Younger Russians who use the internet are almost wholly against the war. The older ones still get their news from state TV and have no idea what's really going on.

60% of Russians get their news from state tv. I'm guessing that dividing line is by age somewhere in people's 40s.

Why would you ever, EVER admit this? Why?!?
Well for the last 15 years anybody who hears anything as been conditioned to jump on Social media and blab away.

Its clearly become part of our DNA. Everyone is doing it even the Russians. I have been calling this the "WTF war." for this reason. None of it makes any sense.

Remember when the Marines landed on the beaches of Mogadishu, and a bunch of reporters were there with lights and cameras rolling?

Vis-a-vis those tires on that Pantsir…

That's a very high-value weapons system. As in, 'effing vital to your air defense umbrella.

If you're not making sure that that vehicle has good tires on it, what are you prioritizing?

The fact that one of those, apparently intact, is sitting out there for some Ukrainian farmer to make off with…? That's flatly terrifying to whoever is running that ADA umbrella, for oh-so-many reasons. First, the system is now unavailable. Second, and probably most important, the COMSEC and IFF data may still be on that thing, intact. That means that Ukraine now has a means of getting inside the Russian ADA networks, and wreaking havoc on anything flying. Hell, with the right guy doing the hacking, I wouldn't doubt that they couldn't get in and change IFF id codes such that Russian aircraft were now identified as hostile across the network, which would be 'effing incredibleThey'd be able to watch as the Russian ADA shot down their own aircraft.

If any vehicle was a burnt-out hulk, it should have been that one. Dear God, the freakin' potential there in terms of just COMSEC having to be redone across the entire force, based on the presumption it's been compromised. I would lay you long odds that whoever abandoned that thing intact that way probably didn't "Z" out all the systems…

This is, by the way, an SF teams fantasy accomplishment: Capturing something as networked as this thing is, intact. The fact that it's sitting there on Twitter? Russian COMSEC security guys should be filling their pants, right about now, and so should the ADA bubbas.

I cannot emphasize enough what a big deal an intact Pantsir with its COMSEC and IFF would be, to the right people. If the Ukrainians can't take advantage of something like that falling into their laps? They deserve to lose, frankly.

That picture caused literal jaw drop, when I saw it. The implications, past the tires? LOL… Mind-boggling. That's galactic-level military incompetence, that is. You do not abandon or allow to be abandoned an asset like that.

I gotta wonder where the hell the adult supervision is, in all of this. Is there any?

If this becomes a super long drawn out fight, and its looking like it is. I don't see how Russia ever keeps a single piece of armor from becoming a flamed out shell.

Those man portable rockets are just too good.

At some point, Russia won't be able to keep their war machine rolling. Tanks and artillery pieces take time, money and resources to build.

I think russia hasn't landed a beach invasion because its trying to figure out where the Neptunes are hiding. Somewhere in the Kremlin they know that its relatively easy to replace tanks. Replacing a fleet of warships could hinder their abilities for 5+ years.

Good video. I do also think it's premature to mock the Russian's efforts as failures and to claim Putin has lost his mind.

Not to mention parts. There will not be any parts coming in to Russia for the near future, meaning at least six months to a year.

They're forcing Kazakhstan and Belarus to commit theirs and they still have a ton in storage. Even if only 1/4 to 1/3 is deployable that's still a ton for Ukrainians to neutralize, IMO. But, yeah, they'll still burn through a ton of it regardless.

This war is definitely raising questions about what the future of war looks like.

Broad air superiority through airplanes still wins, but now close air superiority and defense through drones looks like its a big gamer changer. And I think tanks will give way to way more nimble cannons mounted on four legged chassis like boston dynamics has. Something that can move, strike, and move on the ground before you can get a javelin on it.

I am by no means an expert, but watching this conflict, I completely agree.

Highly mobile/precision lethality weapons in urban areas is likely the future. That's probably obvious to many, but to guys like me that played RISK growing up, it's pretty eye opening.

Thank you to all those that keep our country safe; I can't imagine what it feels like to be this vulnerable as a country.

You mean nothing but a incompetence for a week running doesn't deserve mockery. How do you propose that Russia holds this territory if / when their forces have to move to the west of Ukraine (which they haven't even sniffed at yet).

Pretty sure we already have a bunch of those. Boston Dynamics is flush with cash for some strange reason.

The Helt has been discussed a couple of times today I believe, but interrupting commercial shipping is a pretty big taboo iirc. While I don't see anything happening because of this particular incident, this is like the third or fourth issue involving a commercial vessel near the Ukrainian coast during this incident. If it comes to light that the Russians are actually commandeering or attacking ships intentionally, that's going to draw some attention.

It's just what gets highlighted by twitter world and Americans can't think beyond a tweet anymore. So they see Russian failures in a tweet and think the entire war effort is exactly like that.
