Not sure completely cutting off everything Russia from information networks is the best idea, because it leaves their people in the dark about what their government is doing and denies the rest of the world an objective view of the craziness that is going on inside Russia with regards to propaganda, misinformation, and what the population is thinking that might get by censorship. Definitely have to understand some of what you get is BS, but some will also be legit.

Doesn't really matter because Putin will put military censorship controls on all media anyway as part of martial law.

Thanks I missed that page. So question becomes do they never turn the internet back on or let their peeps travel internationally exposing the truth?

In 1984 I spent 3 days in moscow and 1 in warsaw. In 3 days of walking around the city and riding subways, I only witnessed 2 smiles. At the hotel, a worker saw the crucifix necklace on my stepmom, embraced her and wept for 15 minutes. Everything was gray/drab devoid of color or even life. In at least 3 locations my father dropped off freeworld newspapers and magazines that he snuck in. Technology was 30 years behind us in everything if not more. The food was horrific. Everybody smoked. At the market most of the items looked like rejects from the productions lines of modern countries. We attended the Friendship games (Rusky Olympics because they boycotted LA) in which the stands were 90% empty. On our departure visa control did not correctly stamp our documents and this wasn't noticed until we reached the last checkpoint and in close enough proximity to the jetway and they stopped my father. He became angry and scared for us, ordering my step mom and I to board the plane and depart. This triggered several soldiers with AK47s to respond all pointing them at my father. As the problem was being worked on Swiss Air held up the plane and told us they will do everything can to help get him out which they did after some delay.

I don't believe anybody in Russia wants to go back to this life and putin may very well be fighting a multifront battle that will get very nasty. russia has become a modern country today, but some of these old era roots still thrive which most certainly has led to their struggles in Ukraine.

This is true. And also plays in a little bit to the official narrative that "the west hates Russia and her people."

I'm not sure about using to directly attacking US, but Putin can definitely take this and point to it as "see! The Ukrainian government is just a puppet of the west!" Which would serve his purposes to further try and justify the invasion to his people.

Most platforms are just blocking Russian state media in Europe. Reddit has blocked links to them worldwide, so no one is getting Russian propaganda. Everything else is open, but sputnik and RT no longer have a voice in many places.

Exactly. Putin may still be old style Soviet mind set but a lot of his citizens are much more Westernized since the fall of the Soviet Union. They like their consumer goods and creature comforts too. They won't be near as complacent and compliant as he expects.

Younger Russians who use the internet are almost wholly against the war. The older ones still get their news from state TV and have no idea what's really going on.

Has any of the stuff this account has posted actually been verified or confirmed by another source?

I remember it had some surprising stuff earlier in the thread, but can't remember if that actually came out from other sources. I am just wondering how seriously this account should be taken.

is passing along targeting information to destroy Russian forces in Ukraine?!!

This can not be reality!!

Not a big deal IMO. They already knew this. What did they think we have been doing with the information coming from our drones, our AWACS, our Rivet Joint, our sigint? Of course we're helping, we're giving them lethal aid.

Responding to this Zelensky offer of direct negotiations and how he mentions the 30 foot rule with Putin-

supposedly Putin is so afraid of COVID that he ensures no one can approach him closer than 30 feet.

for all those claiming we have nothing to worry about when it comes to Russia launching a tactical nuclear weapon because the Russians are completely rational.

Correct. It is one thing to do it and to let them assume it is happening. It starts to affect their planning and posture if they think you are watching and telling the Ukes everything they are doing. But when you announce it publicly to the world, then the Russians can use that video clip to say to their own people and to Ukrainians who might have had some Russian leanings "See, Ukraine is a puppet of the west being used as a cat's paw to strike against us! Their own presidential spokesperson just admitted it!"

My money is on Zelensky in that fight...if he doesn't trip over his giant ballsack on the way to wrapping his hands around Putin's throat.

Yeah, it's hardly a secret. There have been all sorts of articles about NATO countries providing ISR. If we're overtly providing the Ukrainians with weapons, why would also providing data ring any alarm bells?

FOR EXAMPLE

All I know is with twitter and all this satellite imagery, we never could have pulled off Desert Storm 1, there would have been reports of where are tanks where on the news every night. Or maybe owing the skies still would have prevented Iraq from doing anything about even if they knew where our tanks where.

Apologies if repost.

Also,

Quote:

A SEAL TURNED CIA OFFICER'S ADVICE TO VETS VOLUNTEERING TO FIGHT FOR UKRAINE

Secondly, if you are determined to go, be professional, responsible, and realistic in your expectations. Follow the Ukrainian government's advice about how to officially register, and do not go there telling them where and how you want to participate in the fighting.

They will place you in whatever capacity they need you, and wherever they need you most. You are not Rambo, there to single-handedly slay Russians and post your selfies. You will be part of a military machine that is under extreme stress, and you need to seamlessly integrate into that system to be an effective part of it.

When you arrive in your assigned theatre of operations, either with an official Ukrainian escort, or after you have made your own way in, it is very important that you do what the Ukrainians need you to do, and fall under their operational control. If they need you to work supply lines, then do it. If they need you to help with combat medicine, then do it. If they need you to carry a Javelin and target Russian armor, then do it.

You will also need the contact to supply you with a weapon, preferably with whatever the Ukrainian forces are using. This is to both blend in and also to ensure adequate supplies of ammunition are available.

If it were me, I would want that weapon the moment I departed Lviv to head to the fighting, as well as a Ukrainian uniform. The key is to blend in and not draw attention to yourself from Russian forces.

Well for the last 15 years anybody who hears anything as been conditioned to jump on Social media and blab away.

Its clearly become part of our DNA. Everyone is doing it even the Russians. I have been calling this the "WTF war." for this reason. None of it makes any sense.

Another report:

Center for Defense Studies & Ukrainian Intel is the source of the martial law rumor

Haven't found a source for the men 18-50, but it probably originated from travels for men 18 to 50 in
Donetsk and Luhansk (DPR/LPR).
