Weird he thought it was almost like lightning and that's what I thought it sounded like. The crack of lightning.

If this really was an hour ago in Kherson that hardly looks like a city that has fallen under Russian control to me. Maybe "fallen" just means their force is inside the city.

I hope I'm totally wrong here, but to me that looks like Russians have pinned the Ukrainians into a smaller portion of the city and now they're finishing them off with shells. I hope I'm totally off base though.

Good thread on Russian maintenance issues on all those vehicles that some think aren't being abandoned.

Maintenance issues? Looks like the front of that vehicle got it. It's on fire in the front.

There is no mud at all on the tire that is there. That's a fake.

Based on the 9 ish second delay from the flash to the sound that second blast should have been a hit around 2 miles from where that video was taken. Curious if anything of interest falls along that 2 mile radius line

Butcherous and murderous, if true, and I want a bayonet through each Russian's heart that took part in such a thing.

Kherson has "fallen" in the sense that the Russians have control of some key areas, but the fighting is far from over.

Yeah wonder what you do with vehicles in that situation.

Remove some key parts and disable it? Or just shoot up the engines and other systems rendering it completely totaled?

Petraus or some other general was mentioning this mud issue in the lead up to the invasion. Said if they did move on Ukraine they had to get there early enough to be driving on icy ground.

Seeing so many examples of this now. It was mentioned earlier today that Xi wanted Putin to wait until after the Olympics. Hilarious.

Xi may have cost Putin a war.

It's honestly astonishing. I'm a Weather Officer in the Air Force and I work with the Army now and have worked with them in Europe. This is densely covered and well known. I just can't fathom they executed this plan. We all knew it was warmer this year without much snow fall. The ground really never froze. Crazy

You think the Russians would still be shelling the city if it were under full control?

Most aren't propping him up. I think that's been a bit of an overstated thing with the oligarchs. They have no real say in anything. Very few people have Putin's ear.

True. The list of people that have had regular access to him over the last two years is short. Like less than half a dozen.
According to head of MI6, three of his four inner circle no longer have his ear. He's almost operating in isolation at this point if the reports are to be believed.

Last Friday on a video call where he spoke. To be clear, it was Alex Younger who was the most recent former head of MI6 and not the current head of MI6. Based on what I've seen from the latter, i might trust Younger's information moreso anyway.

Letting them have Crimea was one of the worst decisions NATO could have made, and it is proving to be disastrous in this war.

The question is - did Xi KNOW he was costing Putin the war?

Unlike our dunces, I wouldn't put this kind of 3D chess past the Chinese.

Hitler made the same mistake when he delayed the invasion of Russia by 4 weeks to take out Yugoslavia

Quote:

"The beginning of the Barbarossa operation" he told his generals, "will have to be postponed up to four weeks." This postponement of the attack on Russia in order that the Nazi warlord might vent his personal spite against a small Balkan country which had dared to defy him was probably the most catastrophic single decision in Hitler's career.

Quote:

General Halder, the gifted Chief of the General Staff, were to recall it with deep bitterness but also with more understanding of its consequences than they showed at the moment of its making, when later the deep snow and subzero temperatures of Russia hit them three or four weeks short of what they thought they needed for final victory. Forever afterward they and their fellow generals would blame that hasty, ill-advised decision of a vain and infuriated man for all the disasters that ensued.

Which is why we absolutely cannot let them have Ukraine. It will just be a jump-off point for the invasion of Poland.

Crimea was Putins Sudetenland
