I fail to see the problem. A white flag could have saved them, but running away so they can fight again tomorrow is not acceptable.Rossticus said:Russian military correspondents write that the Russian military is being "shot in the back"

Okay, so, about Kherson. I’ll try to give an explanation as to what happened, without any constructs like "secret deals" or w/e. I don’t have any special information, this is just my personal view of the situation. TL;DR is that Surovikin's explanation is (mostly) correct.
— Russians With Attitude (@RWApodcast) November 10, 2022
Losing several thousand soldiers to captivity or death is such a nightmarish scenario for the Kremlin that even if the risk was 1% they decided not to allow the very possibility of such a situation.
— Russians With Attitude (@RWApodcast) November 10, 2022
This is why RU forces are leaving Kherson & this is why there are currently no large-scale offensives. Add to that the risk of a UKR winter offensive reaching the outskirts of Kherson & the fact that only 1/6 of the mobilized are ready to join the war, they decided to do... this.
— Russians With Attitude (@RWApodcast) November 10, 2022
As for predictions, this whole thing looks like a preparation for going into defense until offensive potential is restored - that is, until all of the 300k mobilized are integrated into the fighting troops. I don't know how long that will take. Maybe another month, maybe four.

There is no "Russian group of 20 thousand people" on the right bank of the Dnipro river according to some Russian sources

I don't believe that either but would not surprise me if Ukraine's "faster than expected" offensive have caught some troops off guard pic.twitter.com/F4ncgaOMTn
U.S. officials familiar with the deal said that the U.S. will purchase 100,000 rounds of 155 mm artillery that will be delivered to Ukraine, enough to supply Ukraine’s artillery units for at least several weeks of intensive combat.https://t.co/vwQSmLNofN

Somebody mentioned why russia did not ask for safe passage.....well thats russia and they did that once for the Ukrainians and then killed them all. (sorry don't recall name of incident)
This is a great place to post Zelensky quote and link to article:

If you had the impression that - aside from the strategic mess - Russians might at least pull off a withdrawal without chaos, should just wait until regular Ukrainian artillery is in range of the river crossings. This might be the case right now. #Kherson #Ukraine️

Almost all Russian river crossings in #Kherson are now within range of conventional Ukrainian artillery. Take from that what you will. 😏

So far tonight:
— The Intel Crab (@IntelCrab) November 10, 2022
* Numerous failed river crossings. Most due to Ukrainian cross fire. Some due to logistical incompetence.
* Fresh strikes on evacuated Russian personnel on the other side of the Dnipro.
* Rumors of gunfire within Kherson itself.
There's currently every indication the Russian "withdrawal" from the west bank of the Dnipro has degenerated into a rout. We'll only know for sure at daybreak, however.
