Can some ex-military or logistics folks enlighten us on how Ukraine will maintain and repair all these different heavy weapons?

I'm happy at this flood of arms, but it can't be easy or quick training up a whole army of mechanics on the many different hardware rolling into the Ukraine.

Great Q&A with former Soviet officer from Azerbaijan who served for 30 years, including Nagorno-Karabakh.

So the gun crew is in that cabin? How are they staying upright at that elevation?

I've googled this system and can only find non-enclosed models.

Unless you mean something different by "non-enclosed" than I'm understanding, your Goggle-fu may be broken.

This is just bizarre. The things the Russians will apparently believe... This is almost as bad as The Sims from yesterday.

If I were Ukraine I would be assembling a mobile force around any Russian salient and then probing for an opportunity to make a sudden attack through its flank into the rear area. As badly as Russia is at conducting their set piece systematic assaults at the front lines, their rear area discipline and preparation must be terrible and they could be absolutely wrecked by an attack that reaches into the rear and mauls logistics and support units.

I suppose the issue is staging up for any such attack would be seen and draw artillery, so it would have to be carefully coordinated to assemble and go into the attack on the move. Maybe that's just not possible in a large enough unit size yet.

Paying journalists to report bizarre crap that's believed by over half the country isn't just a Russian thing.

40 countries. This could be extremely impactful to the effort if everyone is working in harmony to help Ukraine.

I believe that is an "automated gun turret" that has no crew inside the turret. It is supplied with pre-fuzed projectiles and propellant with an auto loader. The crew only enters the turret to replenish the ammo.

The best SP gun system I have seen is from Kraus Maffei Wegman and it is a 155mm AGT that fires from their Boxer chassis. Unlike the systems above, the Boxer AGT does not have to be lowered to the ground on a firing platform like most of these wheeled systems. It can fire with the gun tube pointed 90 degrees from the front of the vehicle without tipping over.

I have seen a demo of the Boxer AGT where it stops and fires the first round 45 second after the wheels stop. It fired four rounds at the same target but using different charge/quadrant to achieve multiple round simultaneous impact on the target. 20 second after the last round was fired, the Boxer AGT was moving.

If Germany were really on-board with helping Ukraine defeat the Russian they would send a couple of dozen Boxer AGT to Ukraine. That gun is designed to win the counter-fire fight against the enemy's artillery.

Won't watch CNN, but their Uke coverage is way better than Fox. I've ended up watching Fox a lot less as this thread takes so much time to just keep up with.

I meant the internal layout of the original photo. An auto loading system would make sense.

OK now, this is seriously impressive.

One Ukrainian Stugna-P team destroying 4 Russian tanks or armor in under 4 minutes.

Each time the camera shakes, the Stugna-P launcher is being reloaded.

We're those vehicles empty? They made no attempt to move after the impact on the first vehicle.

The vehicles being attacked are several kilometres downrange. Time the missile flight. Those things are moving real fast. The field of view is deceptive and the vehicles are further apart than you think they are, which makes you think they should know more about each other's situation than they really do.
that's a great observation...Those missiles were in flight for about 10-11 seconds, so i'm guessing they are close to being at the far end of their 5km range (assuming these are stugna)

This is like the third of fourth time this has been announced. The Germans will get something set up, then their leftist Chancelor will block it.

The chips are the issue, unless you go to the open market you cannot get them.

Taiwan are the kings of the latest and greatest chip production, and it isn't even close. I'm sure they'd be willing to supply everything we need.

That being said, I don't think Stinger missiles require the latest and greatest chips. And there are plenty of manufacturers of 'non latest' chips outside of China.
