I would love to hear from our board law experts on what the legal basis is for this. Can they just start an American non-profit, shift the donations there and have that non-profit withdraw the cash in the U.S. and buy supplies or otherwise use the cash as needed?Agthatbuilds said:

Canadian law is screwy, I guess. It would have been very hard to do this in the states.American Hardwood said:I would love to hear from our board law experts on what the legal basis is for this. Have to sue in Canada, I'd think. TBH, I have no idea. Let's see what the state AGs do, if anything, in response.American Hardwood said:Can we sue the Canadian government? Could possibly prevent them from sending it to Canadian accounts? Bank would be in violation of the court order and IIRC there are only 5 or 6 major banks in Canada. TD, RBS, Scotia, Montreal, and maybe 1-2 more. I guarantee none of those will want anything to do with it and will heavily scrutinize where any GSG money goes. And I think we can be certain that they have sting rays and a lot of grey or secret intelligence that they're gathering on the protestors and their leadership structure, contact and influence maps and the like. I would bet the government would be happy to tell the bank to freeze money going into those leaders accounts.will25u said:
How can Canada make GSG do anything? GSG is an American company.
Genuinely curious.

Bitcoin fixes this
It's called minimum contacts for jurisdictional purposes. If GSG effects a wire transfer into Canada, there is arguable contact for jurisdiction in a Canadian court. For practical purposes, the province of Ontario would sue in federal court in the states to get an injunction here to enforce the Canadian court order.will25u said:

Know this! Canada has absolutely ZERO jurisdiction over how we manage our funds here at GiveSendGo. All funds for EVERY campaign on GiveSendGo flow directly to the recipients of those campaigns, not least of which is The Freedom Convoy campaign.
