Putin is getting desperate. Sends in Chechnya death squads. Begs the Ukrainian troops to mutiny. And now wants additional troops from out side of Russia?
Russia still has a lot of troops not committed. Seems like they're stretched too thin and stalling if they're along Kazakhstan for help.
Spitting things out without thinking too much about it:
1) Loyalty test. Russia sent "peacekeepers" into Kazakhstan to quell protests.
2) They really don't have as many functional assets in the area as they pretended to have.
3) Kazakhstan troops die battling Ukrainians. Then Russia turns and annexes Kazakhstan after wiping out whatever military they have left.

Seems like a well reasoned take to me. I still don't want to see Russia win, but I can see the logic on their side.

A show of unity while NATO is piling on Russia and maybe a prelude to Kazakhstan being absorbed into Russia. A strange request since Kazakhstan had an attempted coup in the last few weeks... Russia came in and calmed down the unrest.
A bold strategy for the Kazakhstan president to refuse Putin request after Putin just saved his regime weeks ago.

This is what's easy to forget, 20 died in a troop carried crash, 5 died in that tank, that old man got his car runover.
These are all people, they would have had long lives where they would have pursued happiness and so many are snuffed out because an autocrat and some oligarchs want to change the way maps are drawn. It's entirely sickening.

They have a puppet government. Those people protested like hell against the puppet government not that long ago. That puppet government may not be such a puppet if they can't be autonomous in some respects. If Putin wants to fold them completely into Russia, the government may not be so supportive.

You should see most of the worlds military, they're not the super fit buff bros the movies make them out to be. Especially Eastern Europeans. That said, normally looks don't determine fighting spirit, it was that way with the Georgians, dues were fat AF but tough and dumb, but got the job done
