JUST IN - Biden admin reportedly mulls "nuclear option," i.e. disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT payment system in case they invade Ukraine.

I'm no Napoleon, but it seems like the smart thing to do is apply pressure for another couple of months before invading. I'm sure Ukrainian forces are fully alert now, but that starts to naturally wane after a while.TxTarpon said:
When is this invasion happening?

If true, it's a damned shame... did people not learn from pre-World War II appeasement strategies?will25u said:NEW: Biden Admin Plans To Advise Ukraine To Just Hand Over Territory To Russia https://t.co/ZOx9zcg7Lb

World War 3.0 won't be like 2.0. Hyper sonic missiles, cyber attacks, EMPs, super caveating torpedos, satellite weapons, etc. are game changers on the battle field. The modern world can/will be crippled within days if the big boys decide to go to the mattresses.
"Appeasing" Putin is probably best in this case. Don't risk a full scale conflict unless there are extreme national interests at play. Ukraine isn't exactly high on the national interests list other than being a pain in Russia's ass. Not worth it.
Same strategy should be considered with Taiwan....It's a much different world than it was in the 1930s.
Not to mention, our commander in chief and his replacement are ****ing ******s, who would lead us straight into defeat in a real war.
Taiwan is way different animal than Ukraine. We have major strategic interests there as does the world. If China takes Taiwan they can hold the world hostage simply because of microchips.MuchosPollos said:Or maybe Europe has a better memory of what a full scale war can bring.SpreadsheetAg said:If true, it's a damned shame... did people not learn from pre-World War II appeasement strategies?will25u said:NEW: Biden Admin Plans To Advise Ukraine To Just Hand Over Territory To Russia https://t.co/ZOx9zcg7Lb

And that is our angle. Supply the Ukrainians and train them for asymmetrical war and watch Russia sink in the mud. Its population is old unhealthy and stagnant just like their eco.Sully Dog said:
Russia has a GDP smaller than Texas. If Russia doesn't win immediately, this thing could drag out for years and destroy the Russian economy. This isn't the same Ukraine that he picked a fight with in Crimea. The Ukrainians have well equipped armies and militias who are used to fighting technologically superior forces. They also have hand held anti-tank missles that could really drag things out.
I don't think Putin would risk that. Thus, this is just a bluff like the last time. He is flexing his muscles and looking for some sort of concession.

Why should we care who rules Ukraine? Weren't they the ones (among others) who bribed our politicians to do their bidding? Feeding them into Putin's maw might be a salutory lesson for others who like to corrupt our political process.
