You know, rack, maybe this isn't the A&M you knew. I think you're probably right. In my time in the late 80s at A&M, I don't recall any vulgarities being yelled from the stands during any games. Taunts to the sips, cubby bears, sand fleas, sure, but nothing directed against any political figures.

You know what else I don't recall? Racist asswipes leaving notes on their own cars and then accusing random dog walkers of the "crime". Threatening behavior from current (now former) athletes against Former Students over a statue that holds a special place for the vast majority of Aggies. A school president who aligned himself against A&M's values. Racist professors teaching vile filth.

Yeah, if you're old enough to be welcoming a grandchild into this world, then this damn sure is not the A&M you remember any longer.

If any group of students wishes to yell "F*** JOE BIDEN", who are you or anyone else to stop them? Especially since I'm thinking, based on your posts, that you'd have been just fine with a "F*** DONALD TRUMP" yell.

For anybody who charges that I'm upset about this just because "its Biden"...

This AM I talked to my best and longest friend from TAMU. We've been friends since we were fish together in the Corps....we even wound up as Squadronmates in the Navy. He lives in Georgia, he's a Republican, voted for Trump, is even a local officeholder.
He's as upset about this as I am.
We both agree this is not the Texas A&M we knew.....there are so many more people there now...which means many more aspiring candidates for a vulgar rabble.
I thought it was only a few drunks and no one actually heard it?

All of you Guilt-Trippers on this thread whining about the chant: Get used to it; the political right may be coopting some of the arrows that have been in the quivers of the political Left for years. One of those arrows of the political Left is mean spirited vulgar chants. As posted earlier - this may happen on Game Day.
I voted for this because I like Mean Tweets!

We just welcomed our 5th grandchild into the world. My second grandson.

I've often thought that I would want to take my 2 grandsons to Kyle Field in a few short years ..to see and feel the tradition and history of where their grandfather went to school.

Would you people chant " F*** Joe Biden!!!" in front of my grandsons?.....Would you actually do that to a fellow Aggie in front of his grandsons?

Lmao, now you're using the "Think of the children!!" defense?!

I guess coming here acting all big and bad didn't work so well.

Sorry. You voted for this. There were literal riots and cities on fire last year. And NOW you're clutching your pearls over a few chants? LOL

Yeah, that's going to be very problematical. What can the Yell Leaders really do?

Bjork needs to tread carefully here. Ejecting people for participating in the chant won't work either.

I think there's two paths they could use. Either the "private companies can do whatever they want" path or the "you have violated our community guidelines" path.

"You have violated our community guidelines" path seems to be the best way to get it done

Oh really? I find that interesting since BLM, kneeling for the anthem, lbgtq, and george Floyd crap has been shoved down our throats at sporting events and we were just supposed to accept and agree with it. Now when some students voice their political opinions it's "not how gamedays are supposed to be." GTFOH.

Quote:

LSU encourages its fans to show good sportsmanship and conduct themselves in a manner that represents LSU, the Southeastern Conference and the NCAA with honor, dignity and respect. All fans in attendance shall demonstrate the qualities of civility and sportsmanship at all times.

Refrain from the use of vulgar, abusive, racist, sexist, demeaning or intimidating language at any time.
Always support the players, coaches and officials in a positive manner.
Treat the visiting team, coaches and fans with courtesy and respect at all times.
Refrain from engaging in cheers that are vulgar, crass or demeaning.
Refrain from throwing objects for any reason.
LSU Athletics has high standards of fan behavior for all guests in attendance failure to comply with the sportsmanship guidelines set forth may result in ejection and loss of future ticket privileges. The Southeastern Conference takes seriously the issue of fans "storming the field" after major victories. While the enthusiasm of the fans is admirable, it has caused serious injury to some fans and student-athletes and can result in unwarranted violence and vandalism.
LSU has a similar policy. We can just yell "Suck that Aggie **** *****!" since it's not vulgar or crass.

And donations. Bjork's lifeblood.

Okay I was at A&M in the late 70s. Dad, all of my uncles, and my late older brother went to A&M before me. I'm as much of a maroon azz Aggie as anybody. The first time I went to Arkansas v. tu game was Cotton Bowl in 2001, with The Hubs and his friends and sat in the Arkansas section. Admit I was shocked at first at how they behaved during the game. Booed loudly when the shorthorns first ran out onto the field and it just got worse after that. The sportsmanship thing I was taught was not in evidence that day. But you know what? It was fun.

After years of choking down bile, being calling the B-word by sip fans when we won, the "Poor Aggies" chants going out of the stadium when we lost, came bubbling up.

But that was sports. This is now the future of our country. Aggies were not alone in doing this, not by a long shot. Stopping it or even trying to stop it is counter productive, in my view. Squelch speech at a football game?

Not a great idea.

I said what it was

Bull**** and FJB are big concerns from former students

The bull**** seems to be the bigger issue for many, but the Yell Leaders are tasked with communicating this is not what Kyle Field should be like because it is unique

This is incredibly annoying and soft. I want to be hostile a**holes like Death Valley. The days of people thinking we are incredibly nice and class and by the way thanks for the win on your field should be over.

The "always be nice" used to be chivalric. Like "respect your enemy no matter what". That is a losing strategy now. There comes a point in time where you stop being nice and start making your "voice heard" (too on the nose)??

Edit: A&M students are still good people. Because they come from texas and have Texas values. A dude can yell about how he hates Joe Biden and that same night he will help change a liberal strangers tire on the side of the road

I didn't make the game and wasn't sure if this was even true .. but after hearing that video it's definitely true .. this will grow as the season goes on. The media will be in melt down if this spreads to nationwide college games

It's going to spread because it was not just us on Saturday. Across the country.

I was on Active Duty in 1983. 234 Marines around my age were killed in the Beruit Barracks bombing.

I don't remember hearing any "**** Ronald Reagan" chants at Kyle Field, and would have been disgusted as all hell if I did.

this has NOTHING to do with politics and everything we claim to represent as Aggies. Kyle Field is a special place. I know...I know....here comes the " But WHATABOUT all them fans at the World Series game booing Trump?

So what? you want to destroy the reputation of Texas A&M and the historical legacy of Kyle Field just to get even with the Libs like some 5 year old? But WHATABOUT???!!! hey....we Aggies are held to much higher standards of decorum and decency ....and we damned well ought to be.

you gonna talk the talk..you better walk the walk.

You would be very uncomfortable in the military right now if this is making you upset.
It was a few drunks way up high that were chanting that. Always gonna be a few of them, no matter where you go. Back when I was in the Corps, chanting "**** (any President) " would not have passed muster.

I guess Texas A&M is a much different place than when I was there.

all of us have an obligation to guard the reputation of Texas A&M.

this is a non-negotiable issue with me.

It would be non-negotiable issue with me if I knew I was wrong and was starting to feel guilty about killing my fellow soldiers by my own actions for voting for Joe.

I would be attacking and blaming everyone else as well.well I be..Joe exhibits the same behavior.
