Actually makes sense, albeit in a horrible ****ed up way. We are dealing with the Taliban on a diplomatic level now, not a military level. We can't send squads of soldiers door to door in Kabul right now. We just can't. We are going to have to ask the Taliban for either permission or just to let our people through their lines. Mixing in our young soldiers with their young fighters right now in a city that fell in a situation that is not currently an active shooting zone, is asking for trouble. Taliban just might have learned from before. Maybe they want to really rule Afghanistan for themselves, and the best way to do that is to NOT allow outsiders terrorist camps and groups to plot there again. I'd imagine it's a practical matter. The Taliban has this equipment literally in their hands. It's been moved and our air and intelligence assets on a tactical level are probably pretty much non existent. Where are we going to find it all?
