Hawg, is the reason the State has levied so many related charges against Chauvin a case of the prosecution simply hoping that something will stick? I've heard of, say, felony assault accompanying a trespassing charge, but never have I seen multiple descending murder charges accompanied by a manslaughter charge.

Yes and no. In this case the Black community was clamoring for a "murder" charge. So the Hennepin County Prosecuting Attorney accommodated them. But he also had some doubts about whether the charges would hold up in court, so he added lesser included offenses which is not unusual. In fact lesser included offenses can be added even during trial, if warranted and the jury is so instructed.

But ultimately, AG Ellison took the case away from Hennepin County and added more charges.

Does that then provide an opening for the defense to bring in past decisions that the state does not want discussed, such as criminal background, interaction with law enforcement, not taking care of children made, and being an overall oxygen thief?

I think there was a flub in the testimony. I think she said he started his opioid addiction for his back, and she started for her neck.

Just a few minutes ago the state asked if Floyd had any injuries, other than what she stated previously his neck and shoulders, and she said no just his neck and shoulders.

That depends on what the past bad act involves. The question of admissibility is whether the probative value outweighs the prejudicial effect.

March 2020 Floyd's hospital stay. She went to pick him up for work and he was doubled over in pain in his stomach. Later learned Floyd had overdosed.

Pain reliever effect usually but those pills were different and she felt jittery like a stimulant. Speedballing.
