Emotionally, I tend to agree, but his explanation is legit to anyone who is sincerely listening.

It's OK to make a slight misstep in the direction of taking care of your daughters in a very practical way. It's OK to recognize that you made a misstep and pivot back.

Looks like to me he took full accountability. So why the vitriol?

It ain't like he snuck to Mexico and snuck back in order to hide something he realized didn't come off looking right. He didn't snake around. He's actually being courteous to the situation by coming back and admitting the slight misstep. I'm not sure I would have done so, but this is where you can prove without a shred of doubt that a politician like Ted is damned if they do and damned if they don't.

P.S. - the Mayor of Dallas (Eric Johnson) left for Destin out of LOVE Field last Saturday. He knew a winter storm of monstrous proportions was coming to hit his community. I stood in a Covid-19 vaccination line for 6 hours at Dallas Market Hall with my elderly parents b/c UTSW triple booked reservations that day to get ahead of the storm. It was a cluster F that they didn't prepare for, but I don't begrudge many under those circumstances as they had sound reason for stacking appointments. But, everybody knew a storm was coming, including the Mayor. Where's the media outrage over his decision to take a trip a day before this big storm hit?

I'll still vote for the guy and frankly, I'm thinking BFD? Then again, not a smart move Ted, should have done more thinking on this.

I finally had a moment to peruse this thread. It's quite telling about so many people that post here (and so many members of the Twitter blue-check mafia that came to have a look).

The people that can't let go of Ted Cruz going somewhere obviously only care about scoring cheap political points. Those people live in a world where election to political office means that person forfeits their humanity and is subject to the whims of the mob -- so long as the person subject to criticism isn't from their political tribe.

They care about optics, not substance. They care about political points, not aiding anyone suffering. If that wasn't obvious to anyone from the start of this mountain-of-a-molehill episode, please contact me because I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale. Compare Biden doing nothing during the emergency and then tootling off to Camp David.

Now as for the Twitter blue check mafia. Those people are worse. They're coming from a position of having an actual following to see what is said on this site. They don't know anyone here.
