You Beto bots need to get some better material.

Ted Cruz has done an outstanding job representing the state of Texas.

And unlike the blindly partisan leaders you support, Ted had displayed the ability to work with his opponents...like Trump...or polar opposites in Congress like AOC.

But "Orange man" will forever be stuck in your heads.

Looks like maybe he decided that vacationing in Mexico right now was not very smart.

Too bad, someone should have linked him to this thread so he could realize how much his voters love the idea of him leaving the country while Texas is in crisis!

It will be a bad look if he comes back. He deserves a vacation. We all do.

Haha he must have gotten to the beach, checked Twitter and immediately bought a ticket back.

I had no idea yall had rock bottom standards for elected officials. You expect no better leadership from a senator as you do a gas station clerk.

But then again, the GOP elected Donald Trump, so idk why I am over here thinking the GOP had any sort of standards they expect out of their leaders.

Just goes to show how many morons still exist that fall for your line of thinking. It's like when the Roman emperors used to have gladiator games to appease the moronic (yet hungry) citizens.

Maybe someday Americans will be smart enough that presidents no longer need to fly over flooded areas. Democrats would have to basically double their IQ, however.

While millions of Texans are without power and water in subzero temperatures, Ted Cruz flew to Cancun for a vacation.

This is so "meh" to me. What's someone on the left going to try a "gotcha" with, that Ted can afford to buy the same "fancy" ice cream that Pelosi eats? That he has an Ivy League education?

None of those things have any relevance in what's going on in the world, especially him going to someplace to get away from the cold. If I had his time and resources I'd do the same. I'm sure most would.

I guess American soup like Campbell's isn't good enough for Ted's family. So much for "America First"

Not everyone is a public servant to the state of Texas.
Now describe in detail the things he should be doing that he can't now?

I don't understand how a school that has churned out so many leaders can produce folks incapable of admitting that the optics don't look good.

I think Beta Ray O'Rourke has the personality and intelligence of particle board. Didn't vote for the guy when he ran on those reasons alone. I think that the Biden Kamala situation is hilarious; how we went from a patriotic response to 9-11 to Democratic Socialism in the span of two decades will be something that will be studied in the history books.

Ted Cruz can't do much as a federal elected official. His "powers" don't extend much beyond working in our nation's capital during legislative sessions to secure things he wants for his constituents. Agreed 100%!

To continue with your planned vacation when you're "an employee" of your company is fine. I'd be getting out of Dodge too if I had a trip planned. As an elected U.S. Senator, he is a bit higher up so than the average "federal employee". I can name maybe three US reps for our state but I sure as hell know the names of Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. John Cornyn. There are only two names to remember. It is kind of tough to avoid media attention when you're a senator for the largest state in the lower 48.

I applaud the man for holding his family's interests higher than his constituents; that might have been a tough call to make but maybe for him, family always comes first. It shows where his values lay. That said, the optics do not look good.

Didnt' realize harvey affected the entire state. Harvey affected more than just Texas. It's impact, coupled with the other hurricane that hit the east coast caused a dramatic shift in the freight market, and overnight, the cost to get things from a manufacturing plant to your store shelf practically doubled, and stayed there for over a year. People in Cheyenne, WY felt the impact of that.

Didn't realize more than half the counties in texas is on a water boil during harvey. Walk up to a few random strangers and ask them if they'd rather boil water for a few days in their house or have a house with 4' of flood water in it. Please report back with the results.

Didnt also realize that H-E-Bs, Walmarts, Randalls across the state were running on super limited hours and out of product in most areas during Harvey. Actually, they were impacted. Those stores diverted inventory to impacted areas to get them back online faster so they could serve those in need. The Brookshire in Comanche, TX was impacted with Brookshire's diverting water, paper goods, canned goods, etc to their stores in East Texas and Louisiana. Same for Walmart, Kroger, HEB, etc.

Harvey demolished Houston and the coastal areas. This is a statewide disaster. Do you really believe that the only places impacted by Harvey were Houston and the Texas coast? Really?

Wow. It's almost like he had a massive err in judgment and other republicans told him the optics are terrible.

But that can't be because so many here are saying it's a non issue. Weird.

This "journalism" is pathetic. Was he doing the same amount of digging on flight listings when Mayor Adler was sending videos telling people to "stay home stay safe" from his villa in Cabo?

Hey at least Ted can come take a couple photos in front of a flooded house with a fancy US Government windbreaker though.

So you are more worried about Cruz and his family taking a vacation to Cancun while your boy Biden is:
Allowing boys to compete in girls sports
Ignoring the threat of China
Starting to crash the economy
Going to remove your second amendment rights
Stating that minorities can't work a computer
Continuing to lock us down while opening up the border.
Yep, a Cruz vacation is going to kill our state and country.

Biden's sending emergency aid to Texas and supplying the state with generators. He's also authorized FEMA to provide food, water, and blankets to people in need. He's stepping up in a time of need.

Whereas Ted is going on vacay because this **** ain't his problem, and who can forget Donald threatening to withhold wildfire aid from CA because he was butthurt about them voting against him.
So you're saying that the federal programs have already been activated by Biden approving Abbott's request? Ok then, what more can Cruz do at the federal level? The issues are at the state level and Abbott has the support of the feds.
I dont know, maybe something outside his job description? Be a leader and dont just do the bare minimum? Go above and beyond and show you give a **** about your constituents.
Ahh...so be a distraction when people need help. Putting on a chef's hat and serving food would satisfy you? Handing out a few bottles of water while the press snaps some pics is OK as well? Got it.

Quote:

Beto ORourke and his volunteers called 150k homes yesterday to check on people's welfare and delivered resources to people in need. Why isn't Ted doing that? Ted should get his ass to the Houston food bank or something. It's what leaders do.
Beta used this to kick off a bid for governor. You're a fool if you think he's doing it out of the goodness of his heart and not for some political stunt. He failed at senator, he failed at President, and he'll fail at governor, all for the same reason...he's not genuine and people know it.

As a Texan, I'd prefer Ted to get out of town and not get in the way of the state officials whose responsibility this is. If this was Abbott leaving, you'd have a point.

Quote:

People here are acting like Ted is only obligated to do the bare minimum in DC. Real leaders get off their ass and help their people even if they dont get anything in return for it.

Stop defending him going on vacation right now. It's a bad look, even for this board.
Does being a hypocrite come naturally to libs, or is it something they have to work at? Every lib who is outraged (on this board and on Twitter) were OK with what was going on in DC last week while millions of children aren't in school due to the teachers unions, people are out of work due to the government lockdowns, and COVID deaths going up each day while Biden was playing video games. But federal help is approved and there's nothing a federal official can do other than to get in the way, so he takes a vacation to get out of the way...OUTRAGE!!!
Excuses, excuses, excuses.
The truth, the truth, the truth.

Probably any place in the airport who has a coffee maker has a tap for hot water. Our coffee makers at work have it and many use it for their oatmeal, soup, etc vs. microwaving it.
