LOL, we have a President that was a blithering idiot pedo BEFORE being riddled with dementia and a VP that sucks wang to get ahead in her job and I'm supposed to worry about a US Senator flying somewhere?

Yeah...no.

Bad optics? Possibly. Something to worry about? No. Indicative of poor leadership? Maybe if you're a ****ing moron, sure. But, since I'm not, all I can do is laugh at the feigned indignance from people that voted for Biden and Harris.

Lol exactly. It's absurd. I would also add that Biden is a racist segregationist who raised a corrupt and deviant crackhead pedo son.

Openly pushing segregation in 1980 and now openly proclaiming that blacks and Hispanics are too stupid to use the Internet. But at least he never made a dirty locker room joke in private!

There are some who might not care but it's undoubtedly a terrible look for a leader to be seen as leaving their constituents in what could be considered their hour of greatest need.
Even if it's true that there is little he could do by remaining, the optics don't look good.
He's not a leader, he's an employee. A damned good one, too. If you look to ANY politician as a "leader", you're an idiot.

yes, it is cute you think he is doing that.

now go back through his tweets the last few days where he has outright lied, misrepresented information and initiated false attacks built entirely on false premises.

Beto's doing what he always does...play for the cameras and the useful idiots lap it up.

Beto is an empty suit, always was, always will be
He doesn't have any original solutions or thoughts. Just what his handlers tell him to do.

Biden has dementia. What's Beto's excuse? Just low IQ?

Even if it's true that there is little he could do by remaining, the optics don't look good.

There isn't "little" he could do, there was precisely nothing he could do. He is a federal senator, and as such he has zero involvement in getting local and state bureaucracies to do their job.

Are you somehow suffering under the delusion that we are a phone call or speech from Cruz or Cornyn away from getting the power up and running for the state? I realize that the left believes the federal government is the sine qua non of day to day life but I was unaware of the belief they are capable of altering the weather, healing the sick and repairing downed power plants.

Somewhere in the State of Texas tonight there is a family that has a loved one dying from cancer, old age, Alzheimer's or some other situation that has nothing to do with this weather and I can guarantee it is that family's "hour of greatest need". Are all politicians at all levels morally prohibited from taking vacations while constituents are suffering in any way?

You know what I have not seen mentioned in any thread on this board since this whole debacle started? Any questions about what Sheila Jackson Lee (or any other federal democrat) is doing to fix the power generation issues in the state of Texas. The main reason for that, of course, is because it is an incredibly stupid thing to ask, and most people with an 8th grade civics education know that. Additionally adding another self-serving politician to the mix (of any political stripe) will at best do nothing to improve the situation and likely make things exponentially worse. In the specific case of Jackson-Lee it is because she is a net exporter of stupidity, producing way more than she can consume on her own, thereby spreading the contagion of her dumbassery to those around her via osmosis. There is no mere mask or face shield that can prevent this from happening.

TLDR: Ted Cruz taking a family vacation out of the country during this crisis in the state simply shows that he understands the constitution and how it sets up certain responsibilities that are specific to the federal government, while the rest (like electrical generation and distribution) are the responsibility of the state government.

The constitution, btw, is the founding document that sets limits to federal powers relative to the states and the people themselves. It's the thing the left has spent the last 100+ years ignoring or trying to explain away in the constant push to expand and bloat the powers of the federal government.

I don't think this is good form, and I hate when people take pictures of famous people and their families.

But it's incredible how this board can go from, "this is all Biden's fault" to "what does the federal government have to do with it?" so quickly.

This is a dumb post. It's not complicated. Shutting down power plants over the last decade because wind is the golden child and heavily subsidized by the federal government is bad. The federal government picking and choosing winners and losers is bad. What does Ted Cruz have to do with it?

Where in the hell did he get a flight out of texas to Cancun? My family is trying to get back to Vegas where it is warm enough to play golf. One, either flights are cancelled or two, is the difficulty of getting to the airports through this ice and snow! Earliest flight they could get is Saturday!

To say he has no influence is wrong.

To say he has no responsibility is wrong.

Having our sitting Senator abandon the state in one of our greatest crises is wrong.

Texas needs help. At the very least, he could help out at one of the many 'warming shelters' setup around the state.

What the hell is this psycho babble?

Oh for the love of God please stop with this bed wetting nonsense.

The only thing wrong is the notion that a United States senator has any role to play in this right now.

It's not the government's job to hold your hand when something bad happens. Why must the left infantalize the citizens of this country?

I mean other than to shamelessly set up a straw man they can knock down to pander for votes in the most pathetic way possible. It's gross.

People don't need a ****ing hug from the government. They need the ****ing power and water on, and Cruz can do absolutely zero to make that happen.

The hypocrisy of this board. If a democrat did this it'd e talked about for years.
Yeah, I remember the last time California was on fire, Feinstein, Harris and Pelosi were all right there on the front lines with shovels and water hoses. Or not.

When COVID started to hit the US, Pelosi did go to Chinatown and encourage people to go out and expose themselves more.

So I guess he should have encouraged people to travel the icy roads to be more like Dems?

He's warned people about the fallacies of the green new deal for years, not his fault they don't listen.

I'd guess he's flying to Cancun from DC anyways. Not very many flights in or out of Texas right now, or we would have gone to Ft Lauderdale for the rest of this week.

The love of God has nothing to do with you and Republicans deflecting blame. It's flat out wrong to think our senator has no part to play and it's okay for him to run off on vacation in the middle of all this. Making a 'self responsibility' argument when we had one of the greatest infrastructure failures in all of Texas history: that is the definition of shameless.

For sure. My parents are huge liberals.

Mexico > Texas

Mexico is sooooooo great that millions of Mexicans risk their lives each year desperately trying to escape to come here. Then you and your parents come here and screw this country up like you screwed up Mexico! Go back to Mexico and don't ever come back.
