If it's around Christmas I hope they fill it with fruitcake.Maximus_Meridius said:
Gotta wonder if next flight is full orbital with Starlink payload.

The big boom was still somewhat exciting to watch.
It was plenty loud back in port isabel!
Really good. I think I'm something like 5.1 miles from the pad.

Part of the test was to bring the booster in more aggressively. I wonder if they tested to "failure," and now they have more data on the limits of the vehicle. Let's see if the upper stage makes it.

Also something different about this Starship is that they did not use the extra ablative material that they used on the last one. It's basically an older heat shield design. They actually removed 2000 heat shield tiles.
This launch and changes to the vehicle were decided upon long before Trump. Everything they do is for a specific reason to improve future iterations, not political optics.OKCAg2002 said:
Interesting. We know how political this industry is. Maybe they felt some increased pressure to launch with Trump, etc. on site. Regardless, they have all but proven this concept as viable. Incredible work by the SpaceX team.
Splashdown confirmed! Congratulations to the entire SpaceX team on an exciting sixth flight test of Starship! pic.twitter.com/bf98Va9qmL

President Trump looked super proud of his friend Elon Musk and of America as that SpaceX rocket lifted off.

Did they try relighting Ship"s engines above the atmosphere?
I rewatched the video and skipped through, and there was definitely warping of the steel shell going on.Bevo99 said:
Is it just me or is there a big wrinkle in the hull?

They did and it was successful. Everything about this launch was a smashing success except for the decision not to catch.
The next Starship is the next generation version. They may want to successfully launch that at least once before adding payload.TexAgs91 said:OKCAg2002 said:TexAgs91 said:

Awesome! I wonder if they're going to try and orbit next time and deploy Starlink sats
But the leftist on X are claiming it was a failure.OKCAg2002 said:TexAgs91 said:

After months of Donald Trump bragging about Elon Musk and SpaceX having the ability to catch the rocket booster, it crashed in the Gulf of Mexico.

Successful ocean landing of Starship!
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 20, 2024
We will do one more ocean landing of the ship. If that goes well, then SpaceX will attempt to catch the ship with the tower. https://t.co/osFud7XXPo

Even the original premiss is wrong, it has been only a little over a month since the launch of Ship 5. Heck if the FAA had its way that might still be waiting on that launch.wangus12 said:jkag89 said:But the leftist on X are claiming it was a failure.OKCAg2002 said:TexAgs91 said:
