Hydrazine is brutal, and I think NTO is pretty nasty to( its an acid if i remember correctly, and a pretty brutal one).
I remember when Columbia went down, and all the warnings about not touching pieces as they could be dangerous. I remember thinking then that it was just a bunch of crap to keep people away from souvenir hunting. Many years later when I got extremely interested in space flight I found out what they meant and had not made particularly clear...
If I understand the reaction right, they run it oxidizer rich, and that's why there was a bit of residue left that purged quickly.
In other words, there is a simple real physical (tactile) risk to the contaminants beyond the risk of some explosion. Its dangerous to touch. No wonder --- now it all really comes together.
Hydrazine will actually melt the alveoli in your lungs, and the NTO isn't far behind! There was definitely a tactile and inhalation risk, boring or not.
Here's the press conference from post flight if anyone is curious.
So Ib3 I gotta ask..... are y'all as excited as the non "in the know" nerds are?
For my part, there is nothing "boring" about any of this. Love that it is reviving and seeing imagery like this again after such a strange period of just being stalled.
As for the Hydrazine ---- that explains it all well, and I remember those reports about Columbia's break-up also. But the woman did mention "if they mix" doesn't even need an ignition, so it also sounded like worried about explosion. But this makes far more sense out of the deliberative way they took them out of the capsule. If anything risk of explosion means you should just get out asap.

Leftist Democrats "have completely overplayed the Racism accusation. Honestly my first reaction when I hear it today is to assume bad intentions by the accuser, not the accused."
