It really is tedious to see the same posts day after day loaded with political agendas. At this point, there should be very little doubt about how dangerous this virus is, which was the primary focus of this thread for over the first 400 pages.

There was a time when many thought the virus would be contained by China; and if it did start spreading to other countries, it would not be as deadly or as infectious. I just wish that more of us had been preparing for this weeks ago, including the government.

How about sharing the details on how to create the test with other companies for the greater good? Should be public knowledge at least within the industry imo. Stop wasting time on tests that take 5-7 days to render results and have everyone focus on this type IF the capabilities are there

By having the government contract others to make the test. You might have to exercise eminent domain over certain trade secrets data as well. The claim is against the govt in the Court of Federal Claims, not against the competitor.

By the way, cooperating with the government on genuine public needs, is part of the trade off in the Patent system and in the FDA exclusivity system.

If I worked in a grocery store, I would definitely wear a mask and gloves. As a customer, I would want the workers to wear a mask and gloves, which I am seeing more don.

When 80% of the population wears a face mask, it effectively functions as herd immunity.

The purpose of a mask is to:
1. Reduce the viral load that you're exposed to (therefore providing your immune system more time to react)
2. Prevent others from being exposed to your germs

Ideally, everyone could have world class PPE with an N95 masks and face shields. But a bandana and sunglasses are better than nothing.
