Why do people keep saying this? The president today, along with many other officials said this will be done at the state level.

If they do a total shutdown, that is when I get really concerned. I just don't see how people are going to make ends meet and I don't see how companies Large and small don't start cutting staff in large numbers.

My company emailed us a form a few days ago to print out and keep in our car in case this escalates.

Not sure why I would need that considering people should still be allowed to drive to the grocery store so it would be pretty hard to tell if you were heading to work or the grocery store.

And we all know it's been follow the leader with corona...once one state does it, it's all down hill from there.

Somebody has been forwarding a damn rumor that the whole country is going to be put on full lockdown within 18-36 hours with FEMA, the national guard, and military being mobilized to keep people in their homes. If you get the message do not forward it! You end up contributing to the panic!

I can see how the English exams, for instance, could have their graders (I was a grader and Table Leader for many years) be more relaxed in their standards--fairly easy to do.

I work for a utility and we were also emailed a form on Friday to keep in our vehicle JUST IN CASE there is a lockdown or curfew, basically stating we are providing critical infrastructure to support first responders etc.

I have mine too. Work in telecom infrastructure.

The point you all are missing is everything that has shut down, from sports to schools, entertainment industries to whole counties, etc. has been done one domino after another. Many times without any (to few) cases to speak of. Was it with good intention...? You could say that...but they were decisions that were made to prevent cases, not based on current cases at that time.
Thus, my point. Now we see counties and city's shutting down. It's going to be follow the leader again. Wait for a state to do it...and then more will. I don't believe there will be any difference in pattern.

There are ~20 states that posted no new cases today.

That's great news. I'm hoping rationale decisions are made moving forward.

On a side note...dammit I just ran out of Kahlua and it's Saturday night. Frigging blue laws. With my luck the stores will be closed Monday.

I highly doubt there will be a national shutdown.

Absolutely statewide. A month ago we were thinking it won't be bad in the States. A couple weeks ago we were thinking only a few states. Now we're changing it to counties.

If it holds today, it's promising that our social distancing is having an impact. Usually the final numbers for the day have been updated by now.

Hopefully we'll see the same trend tomorrow.

Ok. We'll see. Lots of counties out in West Texas that may not sure abide by that if there are no cases. But we'll see.

Its clear that this thing has spread far and wide already. Its probably been spreading in the US since Nov/Dec last year.

Time to come up with a new strategy and salvage the economy before it gets any worse.
