I wonder what we will do with all the hobos and junkies who will refuse to self quarantine.

They will get over it in 7-10 days and as long as we are not hanging with them and/or are not above the age of 70, we will be fine regardless.

Hopefully you move to Southern Virginia so you don't have to change your handle

Hey Tanya, Mizzou has its first case.
she has already re-lined her windows and doors with a homemade tofu paste and drawn a huge circle around her house using elderberry syrup, so there is no way the virus is getting in.
Ok, that's funny...

Some of them live on subway platforms. Not so much of an issue in Texas but the big cities up north will be putting their generosity to the test

Is Milan on lockdown?

Checking their airport, they have flights to destinations all of the world back to back with no delays or cancellations.

Hard to stop spread of anything that way.

This is just to keep the internal spread down, they aren't in a position to care about exporting cases.

"(CNN) The novel coronavirus that's sickening thousands globally -- and at least 15 people in the US -- is inspiring countries to close their borders and Americans to buy up surgical masks quicker than major retailers can restock them.

There's another virus that has infected at least 26 million Americans across the country and killed at least 14,000 people this season alone. It's not a new pandemic -- it's influenza."

Of all outlets. CNN also brought up the flu

7-10 days? We're not talking about the flu.

From what I've read, after about 10 or 11 days, the worst is over and one starts to recover if it hasn't progressed to anything worse.

Everyone is in a state of illogical, instinctual panic right now. Individuals all the way to entire governments are just reflexively pissing down their leg and doing things that will at best not help and, at worst, make things worse.

Humans are so GD frustrating sometimes.

They'll get sick for a few days and then get better, just like almost everyone else who gets this will.

Because humans are biologically programmed to be irrational and fearful. We've evolved this way, and it worked well for hundreds of thousands of years.

It's pretty cringeworthy to watch in modern society, though.

A HUGE portion of those infected are asymptomatic or have a very mild illness. It's part of the reason it's spreading.

The risk with the flu is fairly well defined as opposed to COVID which we have limited data on.

For many people, this seems to be nothing more than a mild cough and a slight fever. That's what makes this virus so weird. Its no big deal for most, but absolutely hell for some.

I think that is probably true about a great many illnesses.

Take West Nile Virus, for example. Most people will never show symptoms. Most of those who do have symtoms have a relatively mild disease. But a small number will have very serious disease that may be fatal. When my oldest brother had it, he spent two months in a coma and never really recovered much from it.

It would be an interesting experiment. Give the flu a different name and run hourly stats to see what the public's reaction would be.

The defined flu pattern of 2019 was an average of 1,200 deaths per month if you averaged the year totals by months.

Wash your hands folks and don't go on a cruise. If you are 70 or older, take additional precautions.

That's not much of an answer. How do you know? What evidence do we have of that? I mean that would be cases that are not reported...so how are they being observed?

It's the latest Democrat talking point.

Obviously it went out to the minions.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill
