I've been on 2 cruises, don't care to ever get back on one. Rather just go to a destination and enjoy myself.

In a major change of policy, some people who are confirmed to have contracted the virus, but display only mild symptoms are now being treated at home rather than in hospital.
Of the 115 confirmed cases across the UK since the outbreak began in late January, 18 have recovered, 52 are still being cared for in hospital and 45 are being treated at home, said Dr Susan Hopkins, the deputy director of Public Health England's national infection service.
"We've moved to a situation where people have minimal symptoms and they can self-isolate. It's safer for them to self-isolate in their own homes, with support," said Prof Chris Whitty, the chief medical officer for England and the government's chief medical adviser for the UK.
Prof Steve Powis, NHS England's national medical director, said: "If the symptoms are mild then it's appropriate for people to be in a home setting rather than a hospital setting."
Asked how the authorities are ensuring that infected patients are staying indoors, she said that all 45 people are displaying very responsible behaviour. "Many are isolating in their bedroom and only coming out of their room to get food and go back in. They are being very responsible."

Question for the more medically inclined: is there any added concern about this virus for pregnant women?
Quote:
"We do not have information on information on adverse pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women with COVID-19," the CDC said. "Pregnancy loss, including miscarriage and stillbirth, has been observed in cases of infection with other related coronaviruses [SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV] during pregnancy."
Quote:
"Vertical transmission or transmission from mother to baby before, during, or after immediately delivery has not been shown for COVID-19, but it can't be entirely ruled out," says Erin Clark, M.D., Division Chief of Maternal Fetal Medicine at University of Utah Health.
Quote:
The CDC reports that in a limited number of recent cases where newborns (outside the U.S. were born to moms diagnosed with COVID-19, " none of the infants have tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19. Additionally, [the] virus was not detected in samples of amniotic fluid or breastmilk."
Quote:
We have conducted the most thorough virological assessment to date, and we include a longer clinical observation in mother-infant dyads during hospitalization. The clinical course and outcomes of three pregnant women who acquired SARS-CoV-2 infection late pregnancy are described in mother-infant dyads. Two had caesarean delivery in their third trimester. All patients showed an uneventful perinatal course, and a successful outcome. No infants became infected by vertical transmission or during delivery
No evidence to suggest the potential risk of intrauterine vertical transmission in the case series and further in-depth study is needed. Both the pregnancy woman and infant showed fewer adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Ebola is also a terrifying disease. COVID-19, while dangerous, doesn't liquify you from the inside out and kill 60%+ of its patients.eric76 said:Ebola was crazy from concern of it going wild here.Whiskey Jacket said:

The difference between Ebola and this coronavirus is that the coronavirus is spreading radidly. Any outbreak of Ebola was almost entirely limited to the area where it broke out at.

Saudi Officials Ban Pilgrimages to Mecca Over COVID-19
(TEHRAN, Iran) The coronavirus outbreak disrupted Islamic worship in the Middle East as Saudi Arabia on Wednesday banned its citizens and other residents of the kingdom from performing the pilgrimage in Mecca, while Iran canceled Friday prayers in major cities.
The decisions in Riyadh and Tehran affected both Sunni and Shiite Muslims alike.
The Saudi move expands a ban last week on foreigners visiting Mecca and Medina, home to the holiest sites in Islam. That decision alone disrupted travel for thousands of Muslims already headed to the kingdom and potentially affects plans later this year for millions more ahead of the fasting month of Ramadan and the annual hajj pilgrimage.
Even after that Feb. 27 announcement, people already in Saudi Arabia could still travel to Mecca's Grand Mosque, where pilgrims circle the black, cube-shaped Kaaba that Muslims around the world pray toward five times a day. The crowds were far smaller than usual before Wednesday's statement from an unidentified Interior Ministry official that was carried by the state-run Saudi Press Agency.
Millions attend the annual hajj, which this year is set for late July into early August, and many more visit the kingdom's holy sites year round. Those other pilgrimages are referred to as the umrah, which drew 7.5 million foreigners in 2019 alone.

Their cultural norms are set up to spread this sucker far and wide.
That does not appear to be the case. Men appear to be at a higher risk and at a higher risk for complications. This is also likely due to the split in behavior (smoking for instance) between men and women where outbreaks have occurred. Doesn't mean it's true, but that's what we've seen so far in the very early part of whatever this is.many9 said:
I have been told that pregnant women are at higher risk (similar to the elderly) and it is possible for vertical transmission (transmission of the disease to the fetus).
