Yeah, that's gotta be wrong

May have been covered and I just missed it, but how are there so damn many in Italy? Seems random as hell

Italy is the biggest tourist destination for the Chinese. I spent two weeks there this summer and every city was full of chinese.

I feel like Singapore wins. When I was there, tons of chinese tourists..which makes sense due to proximity. I loved Singapore. Wish I could go back every year.

oh, yes, Singapore does.
But in Europe, France wins, not Italy. When I went to Spain, there were quite a few as well... many on shopping tours. Italy Fashion week does get quite a few Chinese tourists.. and that was a problem.

Not a port in China. The person is saying in the video they work in the port where things are coming in from China.

Port of Los Angeles

Ah, that makes more sense but still, it's empty.

makes sense that things are trickling in though. Give it another 2 weeks and should be much better. (hopefully)
That video would be much more concerning if it were in China and taken today.

We are starting to get items trickling back in slowly but surely. Just taking time now that the factories are reopened.

Hopefully this destroys Chinese tourism and the rest of the world can go back to enjoying our vacations!

That's not entertainment....It's official page and he's posing for that pic. So much fail from a campaign/PR perspective.

A couple of House Dems and two Senators met with Iranian officials in the past month, including a couple who have died in the past week.

Don't really blame him.

That's surprising, because when I was in Europe, there were so many more Chinese in Italy than in France. Venice was insane. There were more Asians that white people. Even the smaller places like Cinque Terre were full of them.

That's why you always say you're from Texas. They often seem to like Texans better.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

This whole thing is laughable. How many people died of common flu this year? I'll bet my house it's more than ever dies from coronavirus in the USA.

Oh and I'd ridicule the cdc that dropped off infected people at a mall but last time I said CDC was politicized trash I was called an antivaxxer and banned by staff for being "aggressive" even tho I insulted no one and another poster called me garbage.

Edit: removed my commentary on argument

This is the same argument made dozens of times previously on this thread. I'm sure someone will be happy to tell you why this virus is different than the flu

Approx 32-45million with the flu from Oct-February, somewhere between 18-46,000 died.

The official global count is at 95,000. If you think that China and Iran are being honest, or even that the US has anything close to an accurate count then you are delusional. Based on the mortality rate out of South Korea the total infected number has to be way higher. The other choice is to assume this thing has a 3.4% mortality rate, which is not good either.
Bob Knights Paper Hands
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Or that the mortality rate is much higher in places where people do not have even moderate healthcare available versus places like South Korea where they can get reasonable healthcare? I don't think we have accurate numbers either but you can't use fatality rates in one country to extrapolate to the infected count in another.

You mean like how the flu kills people?
Very few people ever die from the flu. What kills people is the opportunistic infections that strike when the flu lowers your immunity.

While I can't prove it, I think it was an opportunistic infection that destroyed my thyroid. I had the flu and after about 8 to 10 days, it had gone. Then a few days later, I got something else. By the time it was over, I was starting to see symptoms that I later learned were because of my thyroid no longer working.

One thing is certain. If the outbreak is not controlled, a 1-2% death rate would be devastating. It's odd tha mostt ppl don't seem to grasp the potential for a disaster No one wants.

There are outlier cases, but the main demographic is like 65+.

Still, while slow and dangerous behind the wheel, they can still serve a purpose.
I'm 65 but not dangerous behind the wheel -- I don't drive fast enough to be dangerous.

Got behind on this thread. Two things that no one will care about:

1. Most conferences in my business have been cancelled.

2. My #1 pet peeve of bathroom doors that open inward instead of outward has hit another level with this. Should be outlawed. I should never have to touch a door handle to get out of a bathroom. All you Aggie builders that have done this are dead to me.
If we could open the bathroom door and then wash our hands, that would be an improvement.

I generally like to leave bathroom doors open, anyway. You just need to make sure you don't have a dog that likes to drink out of the crapper.

You know you can use the paper towel you dried your hands off with to grab the pull right? I do it in one clean sweep and toss to the bin. I've never seen a pisser without a trash can at the door.

.

And what will raise that 1-2% to 3-4%(or higher) is if the cases come in faster than the healthcare system can deal with them. Commercial hospitals don't keep large numbers of empty beds, especially the ones needed for ICU and other serious patients. So if hospital trips increase by a large percentage it can cause major issues. Not to mention if Dr.s and nurses, first responders and other staff get quarantined Or sick themselves.
