It's Austin.....
Is it actually IN Austin? That tweet says people are afraid, but does not refer to cases. I may have missed another report.
My wife's company in Austin has started to only allow teleconference meetings with other offices and clients, so there are precautions being taken.
Do you mind sharing which company? Our HR department is waiting on the feds to suggest any sort of change in travel plans.
Pure panic.
I work in Austin and went to two client meetings today in the city.
Guess I must self quarantine now...
My entire team travels domestically (air travel) 6-7 times per month per person.
First and foremost, they're all good people and I'd rather not put them in a position to get this bug because we are waiting on the CDC to pull its head out of its ass on this thing. One of them has both of her elderly parents living with her who have multiple health issues. I'm scared for her and them, and she's starting to voice concerns about travel.
Second, if any one member of my team goes down with this, it's going to have a significant impact on our operations. If two or more go down with it we're in trouble.
So, I don't see it as panic. Trying to take care of my people proactively. Twitter's told everyone to work from home for March, Amazon (who we are a partner with) told all their folks on Friday to cancel non-essential domestic and international travel.
Waiting on the CDC to lead from the front on this right now is just asking for failure.
