My wife works in HR for a big multi-national. One of their employees was on a company trip of ~20 people over two weeks including Italy. They dispersed and two days after returning Croatian national employee has symptoms and is confirmed for it. Now they're panicking b/c they have 11 work sites possibly at risk with around 200 employees and God only knows how many contacts not to mention planes, cabs, buses, trains, client and vendor visits, hotels and restaurants. The whole it could be contagious without symptoms thing is a nightmare.

Yep, nixed travel to/from Hong-Kong, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Italy. That was two days ago, I imagine more updates are coming soon.

They've asked that any personal travel near or to any of those regions be disclosed to HR.

Yeah, Iran's Christians aren't persecuted as bad as people think they are. The primary issue in Iran for Christians is that they cannot mix with the Muslim population. That is, mixed marriages aren't allowed.

My company is an European Mfg. with locations just about everywhere. We are on travel lockdown.

EU employees are not to pass from one EU state to another unless they get a waiver. US employees just hang tight as well.

He was ambassador to the Vatican some time prior to 2001, so unless he was just spending time in Italy chatting up the Pope, he was an unlikely vector for the Pope contracting the disease. Judging by the pic, he was ready to expire before contracting the virus.

What does this mean for a vaccine? If the antibodies do nothing then how would a vaccine even work?

a good friend of mine is a refugee from Iran because she converted to Christianity. she will put nothing remotely religious online because if the community found out, her family would be in danger.

it's technically fine if you are born Christian in Iran, but it's still very dangerous. all someone has to do is accuse you of evangelism and you'll be in serious trouble.

I'm awaiting to hear from A&M about this thing and what the plan would be.

I am assuming they will be shutting everything down soon, they have to at least have discussed it.

Shutting down 68k students from class and major NCAA sports with no illness on campus?

I interpreted it as shutting down travel, not the school.

You know, I was at costco the other day stocking up and I saw PS4's on sale. I almost bought one and a new tv. If I've got a month that I've got to hunker down in my house for, might as well enjoy it.
