Has anyone received any substantive news or phone calls out of china in the last 2 weeks? Other than government announcements?

Other than a couple of 'feel good' anecdotal stories, one 'kid found alone with dead grandparent' stories, i can find nothing. My old chinese contacts are totally silent now. Ive seen info saying that all internet access in and out of china is essentially shut down. Is this true?

The lack of 'unofficial' updates out of china is as disturbing as anything right now.

A couple of things I'm thinking this morning. . .

My dad (turned 83 yesterday) had a coronavirus last year about this time. Obviously, not this one but a type. It damn near killed him and took 3-4 months to get over. Lost 10-15 pounds that he couldn't afford to lose. He ended up with a severe case of shingles at the end because of what it did to his immune system. It never progressed to pneumonia though, which is what seems different about this strain. He's doing good now and has gained his weight back but its taken a full year.

I feel its only a matter of time before we are all exposed to this one, but I don't see it as life threatening if you take care of yourself and don't have risk factors for pneumonia. But, we shall see. . .

Word on the street is that China went into media suppression overtime.

Shut off internet in parts. People working around the clock to monitor social media. Even people to post pro-Government propaganda in the mean time.

Once videos came out about it leaking and the massive problems with the construction, they went silent about that too.

I have passed along 3rd hand information for a few weeks. Last I heard was the Dr telling my friend here in Houston that he needs to get prepared for it to hit the US. I really don't think the Chinese Dr has any clue what is going on internationally. So I'm guessing it's based on their inability to control the virus on their own soil.

It was a week or two ago that the Dr lost her normal monitored internet access that is used to get medical documents from outside the great firewall. They say they have never seen an internet crack down like this.

There's a bit of mythology that hand sanitizers (ethyl alcohol products) kill the flu/viruses effectively anyway.

It's not that it's a bad idea, but rather that if you really want to get rid of infectious agents you have come into contact with on your hands, you have to basically wash your hands like a surgeon does, for a while, with very hot water and soap, not a dash of hand sanitizer or a 20 second rinse with a dash of soap like (the cleaner 50%) do at a gas station.

Can still be bought from Amazon but act quickly.

The saudi's cancelled it. Which is sad, because I always laugh at the stampedes that happen annually when a bunch of them get run over as they get excited circling their dumb rock.
