My guess is that you will be able to get insulin even during an outbreak in the US. But if you really want peace of mind getting more is reasonable.

Not to add to your stress, but you might want to consider power outages too. So a separate generator with extra gas could be in order.

Or just use ice from his ice maker, duh.

It's slowly being accepted that containment is broken. Cases are now being detected that do not have direct ties to China, making it difficult to trace back the virus or stop transmission. The growth rate outside of China is now larger than the Official numbers out of China.

It's because they are desperate to keep this thing from causing a mass panic. They know it will eventually happen regardless and it will crash the economy when it does. The r0 of this thing is through the roof.

Still no word on whether the Chevron employee was positive for coronavirus. 2 other companies in the area sent employees home because of an employee with "flu-like symptoms". That will be one problem with people panicking is that this is peak flu season, so there are lots of flu-like symptoms around. I had my physical yesterday and spent quite a bit of time with my doctor. He said they're seeing a large amount of influenza right now, even in people who got their flu shot. Sounds like a bad year for flu.

-WHO has done training and passed out kits to roughly 1/3 of the world. They are available to help.
-Not a pandemic, but getting close.
-Virus doesn't care about GDP or race or sex or borders.
-Countries should prepare and not panic. Have staff ready at a moment's notice.
-90% symptoms with fever, 70% symptoms with dry cough.

To be honest, how they can detect it over what I have right now (same thing) seems crazy.

This is a bad year for the flu for sure.

But, they above is why I'm so pissed at China. If it would have been any other Asian country, we likely would have a trustworthy breakdown of mild/severe/critical/dead. That would have gone a long way towards preparation for everyone

We're 3 months into this thing and still do not have that reliable breakdown to tell us the true severity Of the virus. Couple that with the worst of videos going around and we're bound to get more panic than anything else. Hopefully we'll start getting reliable breakdowns that do not include any China numbers soon.

I saw a flow chart they provided to health care providers last week.

1. Had to have the symptoms (which look a lot like the flu)
2. Had to either been to China in the past month, or been in close contact with someone who was.

Things are getting derailed at step two because the CDC is a bunch of idiots.

It speaks to how widespread it is in Iran, despite the 245 or whatever official cases. I have no doubt there are many thousands of actual cases, because of the # of dead and the fact that public figures have already gotten it.
