Containment was lost at the beginning of this epidemic. All Chinese actions since have been efforts to save face.

By saying "few others would have" you implied more than just "others." There are 1.1 million medical doctors. So that isn't an elite group. You are also ignoring a large number of Phd types that study these diseases that aren't medical doctors. So the pool of people that he would have to have more insight than is quite large.

As for my bona fides? I don't have the training in science. However, I don't post BS from my bunker in Texas that I pull from the internet. I do work with numerous people that are actual experts in viruses. Several study corona-viruses in particular. One is one of the few people in the US that studies corona-viruses in bats. He has a bat symposium he is hosting this summer and has done so before. We have a bat colony at work. Several more were at a meeting a month or more ago where the CDC director came and gave them an update on this outbreak. I have a couple of them that received funding to start working on the current outbreak. [My people have done Zika and West Nile as well. I know a guy that was in Africa for Ebola. I know several CDC employees as well.] What I don't do is take everything I see online and freak out and post unsubstantiated BS on texags.

And, as we have read from several reports -- the virus comes back for seconds. So, you may recover the first time -- seems rather deadly when it gets you the second time. Is there a third time? Do people survive a 3rd time?
Unfortunately, the body count is literally up in smoke in China.

The information is from worldometer - Sometimes data from the day before gets combined with current day's data but I sort it out within the hour. It's fixed now.

This is the current corrected data. For about an hour Worldmeter had today's partial data and yesterday's combined. Timezone mix up I'm sure.

I thought Ebola is closer to 90% in Africa. I know the mortality rate for health care workers was 50%.

Yes, it can be up to 90% depending on the particular strain, which is why it makes a poor pandemic virus. It tends to incapacitate and kill most of its hosts and does spread easily like other viruses (flu, norovirus, rhinovirus, coronavirus, etc.). While Ebola is a nasty bugger, part of what makes it's death rate so high is a complete lack of medical care in areas where it often appears, along with a complete lack of trust in modern medicine, even when it is available.
