They are being treated in Japan.
I know they put this out to reassure people. But that is still pretty bad as far as easily communicable viruses go.japantiger said:

My friend's brother and sister-in-law caught corona virus on the Princess ship in Japan. He's doing ok, but his wife isn't. She has pneumonia and she keeps getting worse.
They are Caucasian and in their 60s or early 70s.
That's making me worried. I doubt they smoke, they haven't been exposed to bad pollution, they are getting good medical care, they aren't Asian, and she may die.
This video if floating around some Corona Facebook groups I follow.k2aggie07 said:

They were in the Japanese hospital before the evacuation. Just got an update from my friend, and her sister-in-law is being put on an "HIV drug".
Please pray that she gets better.

PPE works, infection occurs when you remove it. There's no way to take it off without contacting it or breathing near it. We need spray decontamination chambers to wash you before you remove mask/gown, and that ain't happening. All med staff will be exposed eventually.

Diamond Princess has completely inadequate infection control, and there is no professional ID person in charge. Passengers, crews, health care professionals working inside are at risk of infection, and the practice is even worse than what I saw in Africa. Immediate action is needed to save people inside.
- Cruise ship completely inadequate for infection control
- Was called in by Dept of Labor and Health... (Japan)
- Called later that someone (power over him) blocked him from entering the ship
- Had to sneak in as a D Mat (Disaster Management Medical Team)
- No Green Zone/ Red Zone isolation
- Crew, officers, PPE, No PPE just going around...completely chaotic
- Medical officers, no protection...thinks she is already infected.
- Worked with Sars, Ebola, Cholera...never had fear of infection; inside Princess diamond "I was so scared of getting CoVid 19" No way to tell where virus is.
- Not a single professional infection control officer
- All bureaucrats in charge (unprotected)
- He complained to officer in charge
- Kicked out at 5pm...
- Now isolated for 2 weeks from his family and work...
- Japan has no CDC
- No very surprised to see new infections...
- Understands why countries took their citizens home.
- We have to help people in the ship...
That ship's quarantine seems to be more along the lines of those "Chicken Pox Parties" some parents hold.bmks270 said:
I think it's a bad approach to keep everyone on the ship. They should quarantine them off of the ship. On the ship it's just going to spread to all of them.

The incubation period for COVID-19 could be as long as 24 days 10 days more than previously understood, a new study says.
China's National Health Commission released new research that suggests that the standard 14-day quarantine period might not be enough to contain the spread of the virus, Business Insider reported.
The study, which was co-authored by Dr. Zhong Nanshan, who is credited with detecting SARS in 2003, determined that the incubation period for the new coronavirus ranges up to 24 days, with the average being three days.
The research, which has yet to be peer-reviewed, also suggested that patients can infect other people during the incubation period, echoing the findings of previous reports about the virus.
The new revelations raise questions about the necessary length of quarantine periods for the virus.
US officials have been ordering American evacuees from Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, to stay in isolation for 14 days in accordance with known incubation periods.
Questioned about the latest research, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it's a "really interesting report," but the agency is also considering "all the other data that's available."
"I would say the incubation period is obviously really important for us as we look to make sure that we're releasing these people safely from quarantine, but the abundance of data that is available still is consistent with our current stance, which is to use 14 days as the end of that incubation period," Dr. Nancy Messonier, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, told reporters Wednesday in a conference call.
The novel coronavirus has killed more than 1,300 people and infected more than 48,000 in China.

Hard to tell much from that graph. That is showing percentage of positive tests per week, so it's not directly the number of people with the flu. However, I have heard that locally we have had 3-4x the number of cases from last year.
