One of the theories floating around is that the Chinese pushed a mandatory vaccination that might have actually made their population more susceptible to an outbreak, instead of safeguarding it from one. That's all I got.

Only a matter of time before some mom doesn't vaccinate Braydaylynn because she read this on a mommy blog.

Some Americans think scenes like this couldn't happen on American soil. They're right only for as long as the citizens own fire arms.

Here's a Friday morning hypothetical, Would you consider shooting a "public health official" if they were trying to take your son or daughter away to a quarantine facility? What burden of proof does the PHO have to make before detaining your family member? Are the scenarios different if your kid is in the hospital ICU, in public school or merely playing with friends in the neighborhood playground?

Before I catch a ban....Staff its merely, a hypothetical in the event Trump is literally Hitler and uses the CV to start rounding up folks. I'm not threatening to or encouraging anyone to go shoot up a public health department.

Things might be getting interesting here in the states- flight from SFO to Heathrow has been locked down on the Heathrow tarmac due to suspected coronavirus. 8 other flights locked down.

"seem like"

There was a legit study that found a SARS vaccine to be a very idea, and add in the fact that some Chinese officials are afraid of a bio weapon that targets only Asians. Who knows what they have been doing.

Keep watching Singapore. 1 to 8 to 30 to 50 to 58 now 67. US may follow their trajectory. We also will have a better idea what happens to the infected - get well, ICU, die.

Trigger warning: doomsday tweet ahead

But also from that linked WSJ article:

Quote:

"Where we'll look next is Hong Kong and Singapore," Dr. Riley said. "We may see a growth phase there next," although, he added, researchers haven't yet seen exponential growth outside of mainland China.

Again, read these articles carefully, people. These so-called experts with their doomsday predictions are relying on assumptions stacked upon assumptions that are built upon estimates. Didn't you guys learn any critical thinking during your years at A&M? These worst-case assumptions may well turn out to be right, but so far the data is not supporting them.

The way that tweet is phrased will get clicks though.

The biggest problem for a business traveler at this point is that you may get stuck somewhere because someone coughed on the plane.

Give it a month and it may be a different story, but keeping a close eye on how the cases do in a Westernized country.

Thanks. That I hadn't read, but it is basically a parallel theory as to why it's 'not so bad' outside of China but clearly China is in full blown maximum police state action phase (replete with weird bleach sprays for whole neighborhoods). When bioweapons and engineering go bad.

It's not 'racial' per se, but could be a result of their 'free' mandatory healthcare system.

Thank you Mao/Stalin/Communists. Now, back to our regularly scheduled Bernie 20 programming.

A passenger became ill during the flight.

Right now they have no evidence the person has coronavirus.

Actually aircraft are not a very good way to spread disease unless you're sitting next to the person.

Every modern airliner uses HEPA filters to remove pathogens before the air is recirculated through the cabin. It has been proven to be extremely effective at preventing the spread of a disease throughout the aircraft.

The UK has confirmed only 0.3% of all of their suspected cases of coronavirus. They are being hypersensitive to anything that remotely resembles it, with the vast, overwhelming majority of cases coming up negative.

Apparently the date the vax became mandatory was December 1st. Could be different there but I doubt a lot of people went out to get it day 1.

And I haven't taken a hard look at the numbers inside China, but a quick look seems to indicate that the numbers outside of Hubei province are dramatically different than within the province. It's not just the total numbers but also the rate of growth, death rate, etc.
Singapore is in a much warmer climate, yet the rates of infection are similar to Hubei. It has a lot of severe cases already. The prime minister is unsure if it can be controlled.

Quote:

Singapore
67 cases
0 deaths
6 critical, 17 recovered

Singapore and Hong Kong got a lot of infectors even up till last week. They get a ton of travelers from China, and they took their sweet time restricting their borders. Even the restrictions that Hong Kong have in place now are kind of useless.

Oh, come on. Your last sentence is completely over the top. 17 of those 67 in Singapore are fully recovered. All but 2-3 in the U.S. have only mild symptoms, as is the case worldwide.

My bad - I worded that wrong. I should've said do they get well OR do they end up in ICU OR do they die.

Valid point. But keep in mind that this didnt get to the tens of thousands of infected in China within a month. It started in early December.

So when saying we haven't seen the expected jump outside of China, keep in mind that the first case outside of China didnt happen until Jan 11th.

More concerning news. Similar to SARS, the new virus may damage men's fertility.

ACE2 Expression in Kidney and Testis May Cause Kidney and Testis Damage

Quote:

In addition, due to the potential pathogenicity of the virus to testicular tissues, clinicians should pay attention to the risk of testicular lesions in patients during hospitalization and later clinical follow-up, especially the assessment and appropriate intervention in young patients' fertility.

From the paper...

Quote:

Here in this study, we first reviewed the latest literatures and found about 10% of the patients infected with 2019-nCoV had abnormal renal function.
This is due both to the disease and from antiviral treatment.
