It would be similar to the choices you mentioned if they were confined to their dorm or apartment building and common areas, with 1 recess of outside access for 6 hours every other day , plus you would have to make them all eat together.

Comparing a cruise ship to a college or town, is useless as they aren't comparable.

Many places, no matter how far from China, aren't taking any chances. Even Antarctica is preparing. The Australian Antarctic Program said it has canceled a flight set to bring 23 people to its research station on Macquarie Island and won't let tourist ships visit.

Some 11,000 miles from Wuhan, posters have been put up in the Falkland Islands, giving people advice on what to do if they begin to feel ill. The information is also read to air and sea passengers when they arrive. The Islands expect around 60,000 tourists from cruise ships this summer season.

The Falkland Islands' only hospital has an isolation facilityrooms used for patients with infectious diseases. Officials have plans to expand the area if necessary.

Calculate the entire area of a cruise ship and then compare that to the areas that an A&M student uses, multiple by a factor of about 1 million, but students/the general public can isolate themselves or leave an area.

Do you really think that the ~500 acres of A&M's campus is comparable to a cruise ship?

Plus, probably a majority of students have their own private transportation which they could use to LEAVE, if they wanted to. Only way you're leaving a cruise ship is to jump off, and that typically doesn't end well.

First of all, I do think the certain areas of campus and facilities at Texas A&M are comparable to a cruise ship...especially the public restrooms.

Chinese dorm (based on the translation) cleanout...they are just tossing everything over the railings to the ground below...

I have only seen media reports of it being airborne, I have not seen any scientific evidence.

Also, our CDC and Soccer Doc said it was transmissible via formites.


So while I believe it is airborne, the if is due to lack of scientific consensus.

That is a very important distinction. I believe the term for the spread by droplets is when you hear them you aerosolized -- as in an aerosol can spray. I am not entirely sure, but I don't think they use the word aerosolized for free-floating airborne nightmare.

However, when people hear airborne, the layman thinks either of a gas attack in war, or of a Bond movie where everyone just drops in mid-walk because the air has been made poisoned.

Gardening is one of the few areas it makes sense to use a respirator. I know this will qualify me for a tinfoil hat fitting but have we considered the fact she might be spraying pesticides? I guess I'm crazy for wearing one while using chemicals in my garage over the weekend too...
