From the few sources I've read it looks like a 5-10 recovery w 7 days most likely.

That plus the ease at which it spreads, makes this a real pain. Get used to the idea that if you get it, you are likely going to have to ride it out at home. Lots of bed rest.

People in the US whine about "police brutality" which is actually a rare occurrence. In China, it is just part of daily life.

I know I'm no expert on these things, and am confident that the Chicoms are lying through their teeth about the numbers because that's what commie rat fink bass taurds do, but why isn't the death rate calculated by deaths/ (deaths + recoveries)? Seems like about 25% of the cases which have run their course to conclusion have resulted in death, which combined with an R0 of threeish seems like a pretty "China is so screwed" number. Why is my cowboy math wrong?

The CFR (death rate) is deaths/total infections. We don't know how many have been infected with minor symptoms. Your ratio would be an upper limit, however, if deaths were reported accurately (they're not).

Meanwhile they add another city of 14 million to the mandatory lockdown. Making it ~400 million total for the country on lockdown.

note: I think there may be some translation error on the term "lockdown". IMO most of us assume lockdown to mean locked in the house w little or no leaving the confines. I've read some twitter comments from Chinese feeds that say it's more of heavy monitoring/ screening as people leave their residential blocks. People are encouraged to stay home but not locked inside their homes. Not sure what to make of that...

I'm not saying I believe the Chinese govt... but here we are nearing the end of the 2nd month and if the number of cases doubles... then we will be approaching the average number of DEATHs in the US for the flu.

China has 5X our population.

If the US (or any other govt) wanted to shut down the Chinese economy... they just did.

If you want to put an end to the Chinese Govt cracking down on HK... that is one way to do it.
