The Yangtze is not as polluted as the Ohio river.. It's also responsible for like 60% of water supply for China. The gov spends a ton of money cleaning that river.

Let's say theoretically if it was some terrorist group (Let's say Hui or Uyghur since they hate the gov and are the bogeymen there because they are pretty violent at times... Even then I think they are not that dumb). That poisoned/screwed with the river. The amount of dead on both sides would be tremendous, said ethnic group would no longer exist, and the violence would make any genocide in modern history look like child's play. Vlad III Dracula would look like a saint in comparison.
It would be like if Iranians (Randomly chosen, substitute with bogeyman group) burned D.C, shot the president, and burned the constitution on national television and threatened to kill anyone who was not aligned with their cause right after the embassy siege.
Both of the these updates popped into my twitter feed (one on top of the next). Beware of the numbers....People are pulling them out of thin air and running with them.
I have been using them for reference only as guideposts. The final numbers will take months to calculate, maybe years.
IMO it's best to watch what people and governments do and evaluate what your actions should be. Actions vs. Words. If China starts to unlock cities = good news. If flights resume = good news. If the opposite, obviously bad news.
It is likely that the numbers will be sealed into the inner confines of the CCP so tightly we will never see them.
Watch for propaganda. IMO a vaccine is a straw man to quell fears. Sit down and think about it.

How many vaccines can a company produce in a short period of time?
Who would be prioritized to receive one?
Are you in that group?
Do you and your family expect to get one within the next week, month or year?

The Yangtze is much more polluted than the Ohio river, what an absolute joke to even make this statement. China has zero water quality standards. I do water and air quality permitting all over the US as part of my job and know well just how strict the water quality standards in the US are in comparison to the rest of the world.
It's one thing to claim it's not the Yangtze but it's quite another to make a claim that it's less polluted than US rivers with zero data to back that up. There are regular algae blooms on the Yangtze River and that river is responsible for 55% of the global total of oceanic plastic. The Chinese don't give a damn about the environment and they prove it every day with the massive ecological disaster they are creating. Standards are meaningless in that country.

The greatest threat that I see right now is economic. If this is to establish beyond China then the countries of the world will lock their borders. Our international economy is not equipped for a one, few or six month pause.
Hell I can't even imagine what going to target or Walmart would be like if there was a supply shortage! What would happen to Amazon after a surge in prices and then the threat of true scarcity becomes an issue?

I don't think that it is that simple. If doctors and nurses are dying AND there is this surge of patients then there's a lack of people available to provide care.

That's assuming they can even get the right numbers. One of the biggest problems for the Soviets is that people all the way down the chain were afraid of giving the wrong/bad news up the chain. So what happens when the hospital administrator is afraid to tell the CCP chiarman of his area that there are 300 deaths today from this thing? well there are 30 deaths and a normal amount of other people died of natural causes.
