A Chinese university found an effective drug to treat people with the new virus, according to a local TV report. Separately, researchers in the UK told Sky news that they made a "significant breakthrough" in finding a vaccine.
Reuters has not verified the media reports, but several traders cited them for the sharp moves in global stock markets. U.S. stock index futures turned positive and the world equity index .MIWD00000PUS moved sharply higher after the reports.

From that CDC link - is this flowchart for medical professionals sufficient? My daughter had a routine checkup this week and apparently one of the first things they asked was about China contact.

So, I have relative that works for one of the two large, international shipping companies. He flies a large body aircraft from China to Europe. He lives in a Dallas suburb. He is in a couple of Chinese cities now and has texted us a number of pictures showing how everything is empty in these Chinese cities. He will return to Dallas in just under a week after having gone USA-China-Europe-China-Europe-China for the previous two weeks. It is not a passenger plane, so he won't be returning through one of the required airports for passengers.
I'm guessing his employer and the US government deem these shipping flights essential to keep the critical items for US factories flowing and from shutting down US factories.....but it is very concerning at this time. His union is pressuring the employer, but the employer is just saying "we're keeping a close eye on it and advise everyone to limit contact overseas."
We normally see him a couple of times a week between his trips. We won't be seeing him this next time and honestly, I'm surprised he's willing to bring himself in contact with his teenager upon his return. I'm afraid he is going to be upset with our position.

Coworker's parents live in Wuhan so this is direct from the parents in Wuhan, not an anonymous internet post. The parents tell her it is much worse than anyone is reporting.
The elderly parents have a "small circle of friends" (what does that mean? fewer than 50? 25?). Of the small circle of friends, 5 have died from the disease. These are not health care workers in high risk environments but simply elderly residents in Wuhan. 5 dead in the "small circle of friends".
Parents are telling her that food is very hard to come by and they spend all day trying to figure out where to get food.
Parents are also telling her that all of the funeral homes in Wuhan are begging for any plastic bags (trash bags or other plastic bags) to put bodies in for transport because they are all out of body bags and normal supplies.
