However, from all the data I've researched/analyzed, I don't see how we avoid 1 of the 3 following things in the coming weeks.

1) the virus infecting 100s of millions across the globe.
2) severe economic down turn
3) panic

It's the third thing that worries me the most. I have no faith in the majority of our fellow countrymen (aka feral youths, criminals, illegals, bad actors, welfare queens, the truly stupid, etc) to hold their **** together in the event either of the first two take place.

The entire reason I started this thread was to raise awareness to my fellow Ags just in case this becomes a worst case scenario. (That and i just enjoy posting random stuff to discuss and have fun with). It's good to discuss and share viewpoints. It's just too bad we can't all do it in person over a couple beers and shots of whiskey.

There's still a huge range of possibilities between global Ebola and the common cold.

The scenarios we have historically to look at for comparably contagious viruses are influenza, SARS, and MERS outbreaks.

Given the corona virus family is responsible for some highly transmissible common cold strains on a regular basis, this virus could very easily keep escaping containment and spreading. It appears to be very transmissible. We still don't know how dangerous it really is, but the bodies and large numbers of hospitalizations in China is clearly worthy of concern.

It worries me that China is starting to move away from their official "everything is fine" position.

We will have plenty of contagion data from non-China countries within a week.
