Not sure if it's all the same scene but looks like we got some blockade runners.

Where is our awesome translator to tell us what that guy was screaming?

Pretty sure the first video is an old video from South America after a soccer game. Their team lost and a ref blew a call.

I translated the videos using Google translator, so take it for what its worth.

Twitter video is title "Fujian Arrest".

Same account has a Tweet that covers the YouTube video. Roughly translates to "Dasha Village, Xiapu Songgang Street"

Edit to add: Per the Twitter responses it is claimed the video was taken on January 28, 2020. The Xiapu County Response Command reported to the public that an idle factory dormitory building in Dasha Park was selected as a backup point for suspected infected. Move was opposed by villagers in Dasha Village, which led to conflict.

Here is the deal about testing...

Why continue to test, if you don't have anything to prescribe. Flu, CoronaVirus, other... if the treatment is all the same, at some point testing in pointless.

Doc suspected I had a bacterial infection. He said I could spend the money for lab work and find out the next day, in which I could come back for the results and a prescription... or I could take the prescription and start the meds and skip the cost of the lab work.

For a virus like this, makes no sense, other than just 'to know.' You treat the symptoms regardless.

Seriously though, how insane would things get if for instance they quarantined LA
As long as all the quarantines are on California, say San Francisco I would say it's karma.

But I this doesn't affect too many health wise in the US.

It'll spread like wildfire in San Francisco with all the feces everywhere

Yeah - do you want a q-tip up your pee-hole and wait for the results? Or, just take the 7 days of antibiotics and move on?

China coronavirus: signs of global human transmission as number infected surpasses Sars

Quote:

The number of confirmed cases of the rapidly spreading
coronavirus
infection in mainland China has reached 5,974, health authorities said on Wednesday a total surpassing that of the 2002-03 Sars epidemic that killed almost 800 people worldwide.
The death toll from the new coronavirus has climbed to 132, they announced, with 840 newly confirmed cases in Hubei province, where the outbreak was discovered.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) infected 5,327 people in mainland China in nine months and killed 349 people, according to the World Health Organisation.

The deaths from the new coronavirus infection have all been reported in mainland China, with 125 in Hubei and seven in other provinces. About 3,300 people are hospitalised in Hubei, with more than 20,000 being observed for infection.

Because you take those anti-botics when you didn't need to you develop immunity to them thats why.

Ah, that's interesting. So say, maybe 20 day period of incubation/transmission risk, just to play it safe and over-estimate.

To really get clear, sounds like by implication, that person could attend school 30 days after return from China.

Now we are getting some benchmarks. Massive quarantine makes more sense if that is the case.

And you said it is a small private school. Hence more direct notice, not as much attention to public hype. Probably more reliable. So make it 25 days and play it safe.

That may be what China is doing on a stupendous scale -- lock all down well past the safe period, just to be sure.

The vast majority of respiratory viral pathogens spread 2-3 days prior to developing symptoms. It is why excluding febrile children from day care OR screening for febrile people on flights is generally a futile gesture.
Why is it "futile"? Do kids stop being contagious as soon as they develop a fever?
They are "maximally contagious" in the febrile phase but spread virus before and after the fever so just excluding febrile kids is symbolic at best.

Two weeks. There is a 14 day interval again.

Sounds like 20 days may be a good safety indicator.

No, that's fatalistic loser thinking. Excluding kids with fever can make a significant difference. Even if they just have a fever for, say, 10% of the contagious period -- excluding them reduces R0 by 10% (or more, given that the period with fever is the "maximally contagious" period). In a pandemic, such a reduction is not "symbolic at best".

Disclaimer on this...it's not intended to spread fear or accusations. Simply posting what could turn out to be absolutely nothing and/or just internet rumor. It would suck to label one person responsible for this whole global mess but these days truth from media and govt (especially China) seems to be in short supply. The journalist at Zerohedge MAY have discovered something very interesting ....

Note:the article doesn't go into HOW the virus got released, just that there is a strong connection between the lab in Wuhan and the virus reeking havoc now.

Quote:

Is This The Man Behind The Global Coronavirus Pandemic?

In light of growing speculation, most of it within less than official circles, that the official theory for the spread of the Coronavirus epidemic, namely because someone ate bat soup at a Wuhan seafood and animal market is a fabricated farce, and that the real reason behind the viral spread is because a weaponized version of the coronavirus (one which may have originally been obtained from Canada), was released by Wuhan's Institute of Virology (accidentally or not), a top, level-4 biohazard lab which was studying "the world's most dangerous pathogens", perhaps it would be a good idea for the same Wuhan Institute of Virology to remove the following "help wanted" notice, posted on November 18, 2019, according to which the institute is seeking to hire one or two post-doc fellows, who will use "bats to research the molecular mechanism that allows Ebola and SARS-associated coronaviruses to lie dormant for a long time without causing diseases."

The right candidate will:

Have obtained or is about to obtain a PhD in life science/biomedical related fields;
Have a reliable and rigorous work style, with strong independent scientific research ability and teamwork spirit;
Have strong English communication and writing skills, have research papers published in the international mainstream academic journals

Have a cell biology, immunology, genomics and other relevant background experience is preferred;
The full job posting, which can still be found on the Wuhan Institute of Virology website can be found here (and screengrabbed below as it will be gone within a few hours).

Why is this notable? Because as it turns out, this is a job posting for the lab of Dr. Peng Zhou (), Ph.D., a researcher at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and Leader of the Bat Virus Infection and Immunization Group. Some more on Zhou's background from the Institute (google translated):

Quote:

So to summarize:

One of China's top virology and immunology experts was and still works at China's top-rated biohazard lab, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which some have affectionately called the real Umbrella Corp.
Since 2009, Peng has been the leading Chinese scientist researching the immune mechanism of bats carrying and transmitting lethal viruses in the world.
His primary field of study is researching how and why bats can be infected with some of the most nightmarish viruses in the world including Ebola, SARS and Coronavirus, and not get sick.
He was genetically engineering various immune pathways (such as the STING pathway in bats) to make the bats more or less susceptible to infection, in the process potentially creating a super-resistant bug.
As part of his studies, Peng also researched mutant Coronavirus strains that overcame the natural immunity of some bats; these are "superbug" Coronavirus strains, which are not resistant to any natural immune pathway, and now appear to be out in the world.
As of mid-November, his lab was actively hiring inexperienced post-docs to help conduct his research into super-Coronaviruses and bat infections.
Peng's work on virology and bat immunology has received support from the National "You Qing" Fund, the pilot project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the major project of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
