I'm 87% sure the doors opening inward is a fire code thing
Doors opening outward is dangerous in evacuation situations.
our bathroom doors have always opened outward
I think the in out thing is fire code when the door leads outside the building
Depends if the room, corridor, or stairwell is supposed to be fire-rated or not.
Generally you want your bathrooms to have the airflow negatively pressured (exhausting more air than you are supplying) so that you aren't pushing out the air into the rest of the building where people can smell it/breathe it in. The rest of the building should be positively pressured so you aren't sucking outside air with pollutants into the building.
If you are exhausting a lot of air from a room, you want the doors to open inwards so it's easy to open. Vice versa with outside doors.
