Yeah like we need to inflate their numbers x100 or x1000 to get close to an actual estimate.

For the past few days I have decided to just multiply anything I see from China by 1,000 and their actions make much more sense.
So if you look at their table approximately 20,500 cases in China and 425 deaths. Multiply by 100 and 205,000 infections and 4,250 deaths.
Now multiply by 1000. 2,050,000 infections and 42,500 deaths.
I'm not saying it's a factor of a 1,000 higher, but I would guess 100 at best.

Maybe not since those steps were taken? Whether you agree with them or not, all of those decisions were probably made in the interest of public wellbeing no matter the final death count.

Guess it depends on how many hospital beds are available vs. how many they anticipate needing. People still get sick with regular stuff and it doesn't seem like they have enough capacity relative to population size to begin with. Obviously, you primary hope is this virus doesn't show up in your hometown. But after that, it is best for everyone world-wide if China is able to get a handle on this thing as quickly as possible. Not only because the longer this goes on, the greater the risk of it getting out of control world-wide, but also for economic reasons. Okay that makes sense. Most of the deaths are in the elderly and not impacted by the 1 child policy in terms of gender distribution that younger generations have.

Perhaps the virus is so durable that it could get onto the highway through exhaust and can get kicked up enough to enter another cars intake?
